Duranies exhibit such fanatical behavior as talking about Duran Duran at least once every day. They probably own every cd the group ever produced and listen to some of their songs every day as well. Some of the older generation of Duranies probably have every record the band ever recorded as well. In addition, those of them who were lucky enough have probably attended many, if not all, of Duran Duran's past concerts as well-a feat that will make every true Duranie green with envy.
One other important aspect of Duranies is how well bonded they are. They stick together so to speak. Many of them communicate daily on online communities, such as Myspace, Duran Duran forums, and Duran Duran fan groups dedicated solely to Duran Duran where they talk about past performances given by the band, upload and trade pictures, and even talk about personal experiences and encounters with the band or some of its members. As you can well imagine, those lucky few Duranies who have managed to achieve face to face encounters with Simon, John, Nick, Andy, or Roger are quite popular among the other Duran Duran fans.
Moreover, some Duranies pay special tribute to their favorite band member by creating websites dedicated solely to one member of the band, such as the Temple of St. Nick, which is dedicated solely to keyboard synthesizer Nick Rhodes. The other members have their own various websites too, of course. One thing that is very popular among Duranies is the writing and reading of fan fictions. Fan fics that feature any or all of the Duran Duran members as characters are quite a special read for Duranies who update such stories daily. And since Duranies also love anything Duran Duran related, they will naturally gravitate towards anything with any reference to Duran Duran and love such websites as www.profilecreations.com, which features many different Duran Duran group and member myspace layouts and wallpapers.
The term "Duranies" is a widely unknown term, except among those Duran Duran followers. It promotes a bond among fans and helps them to identify and relate with one another.
