Dusky Thoughts of You, a Poem

The sun has quietly gone to rest, behind the horizon line,
And dusk is falling quickly, on this special quiet time.
I sit among the trees and hear, a birds last goodnight,
And a plane is going somewhere, on a very special flight.

The wind is gently blowing now, against my soft tanned skin,
And my mind is soaring with the plane, to another time back when.
The sun was gently setting, in a land southeast from here,
And my memories all, are racing to someone I held most dear.

What are you doing honey as the sun begins to set?
Are you in the yard as I am or are you not home yet?
Are you worried; are you tired; are you feeling sad and blue?
What are you doing, as I sit here with thought of you?

If I could span the miles and like the bird could fly,
I'd be sitting there beside you in the twinkling of an eye.
I'd hold you and caress you and then I'd let you know
How much I really missed you and then I'd never let you go.

The quiet evening stillness, once again starts to descend,
And I'm brought back to this place and reality again!
I can not touch or see you and yet your here inside
You are far away from me, but for you my heart has cried.

Eternity's seem between us and my soul longs to be there.
Wherever you are darling, it doesn't matter where.
And as the dark is creeping in, and I sit in solitude,
The darkness couldn't change this longing... loving mood.

Only you can understand it, although I might try to explain
Why a love shared long ago, can and still, does remain!
Your gone but not forgot , I heard that the other day
but you remain in my heart, No matter what they say
