DuWop Prime Venom Review

I have been blessed with a naturally plump pout, so when lip plumping glosses & serums became popular a few years ago I never had any interest in trying them because I didn't need to and because I was afraid I'd wind up with a huge mouth.

I only tried the DuWop Prime Venom because I was given a free sample of it a couple of weeks ago. I figured that since it was a lip balm I could get some use out of it. A regular tube of the Prime Venom comes in a slim gray and pink tube and costs $20. It can be purchased from www.duwop.com .

The DuWop Prime Venom has gained Sephora's Natural Seal because it's formulated without, parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes, petro-chemicals, and phthalates.

The DuWop lip balm does contain macadamia seed oil, beeswax, sunflower seed oil, flavors, candelilla wax, carnauba wax, avocado oil, ethyl macadamiate, green tea leaf extract, hydrated silica, ozokerite methoxypropanediol, & tocopheryl acetate.

DuWop describes the Prime Venom as a "satin matte lip balm that leaves your lips supple & conditioned while acting as a primer to help lipsticks go on smoother and last longer."

Sephora states that "Prime Venom contains macadamia nut oil, prized for its long lasting, moisturizing properties and the now famous blend of essential oils including cinnamon, ginger, and wintergreen that put plumpers on the map."

"Worn under lipstick or gloss Prime Venom leaves the lips conditioned, fuller, and smoothes out the fine lines that can stop lip color from looking its best. Prime Venom also flushes the lips with natural color so that you don't have to wear lipstick at all if you choose not to."

This DuWop lip balm promised a lot, but I still didn't have my hopes up when I tried it.

I was nervous about it irritating my lips but after swiping it on I found it to be quite soothing at first. Then a few seconds later a tingling sensation started to occur (and lasted for awhile) the tingling wasn't physically irritating, it was kind of annoying after awhile but it did make my lips feel cool.

While I don't think this DuWop balm will work miracles on severely chapped lips, I found that on my slightly dry pout it did moisturize better than most.

I also liked the texture it's somewhat thick but it still feels silky.

Since it's not very greasy or slick I found it to be convenient to wear under regular lipstick. But it wasn't matte enough to be worn directly under matte lipsticks, I had to blot it away prior too wearing one. And I'm not sure if I'd wear more than one coat of it underneath a gloss, because the Prime Venom is too thick.

I thought the Prime Venom smelled sweet & spicy like cinnamon candy. I really didn't have to fear getting a huge mouth with this product because it only made my lips look slightly fuller. I could notice a subtle difference but I'm sure it wasn't noticeable to anyone else.

However, I did notice a major difference with the surface of my lips. I'm still in my early 20s so I never really considered my lips to be wrinkled until I used this DuWop balm. It plumped up most of the fine lines & wrinkles in them & made the skin look smoother & younger.

In the End...

I wouldn't recommend Prime Venom to everyone because I don't think it's a must-have product. If you're a girl who wears mostly lip gloss or you're looking to really plump up thin lips, you might want to skip it.

More than likely though, I will be buying a tube of the DuWop Prime Venom. It has a smooth & silky texture that I enjoy. And since it's not greasy I found I can wear most lipsticks without having to blot this balm away. Plus, the texture of my lips have improved since I started using it; they look supple, smooth, & years younger. And since they're smoother they look better alone & with lipsticks.

If you're older (or younger in my case) and have fine lines that you want to get rid of, you mostly wear lipstick, or you want a very subtle plumping effect then I'd suggest trying the Prime Venom. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
