DVD Film Review 2010: Law Abiding Citizen is A+ Fantastic! with Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler

Phillip W. Chambley
Director F. Gary Gray and producer Lucas Foster have finally made a modern day "non-typical Hollywood story" about family murder revenge! Be sure to view the first (3) three minutes of this movie or you won't understand GENIUS Clyde Shelton's (Gerard Butler) extraordinary horrific anger/vengeance throughout the film, which the entire movie is based upon.

Nowadays? Good films and original stories are hard to come by? but this truly remarkable movie does show some expert talent and reversal plot/story effects? Even expert movie critic Roger Ebert gave this film a high rating of B.

Yahoo.com users also gave it high rating of A-. I personally was so thrilled with the un-expected "surprises" and incredible facial feature acting of these two highly acclaimed Hollywood actors, gave this film a high rating of A+.

Recently released in early 2010 on DVD/Redbox/Blockbuster/Demand/Blue-Ray and Direct TV and was also released in American theaters on October 16, 2009. (Originally written by screen-play artist Kurt Wimmer). This movie does remind you of the Charles Bronson film revenge series called "Death Wish" back in the 1980's.

Except with bigger explosions and totally "un-expected" revenge/vengeance against the entire USA Philadelphia Justice System, which victim Clyde Shelton "mysteriously" seems to control while he is in prison before he brutally and gruesomely murders the killers of his wife and young daughter 10 years later leading to his arrest.

"Ironically?" The writers and producers of this film decided at the last minute to ask actors (Black) Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler (White) to "switch character acting roles" as comically explained between the two in the 2010 DVD special features. These two incredible Hollywood actors thought this was great! In other words?

Reverse the roles of a white prosecutor (or attorney) and helpless victimized family black man! Which for years and years the old Hollywood "cliche" has portrayed for so many decades every since the 1962's sympathetic viewer film called "To Kill a Mockingbird" starring Gregory Peck.

White man violent victimized husband and father Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) seems to have a better well-trained handsome body for this part anyway versus actor Jamie Foxx, especially after filmmakers show his butt and gorgeous muscular parts during his swat team arrest while he was completely nude, apparently NOT showing any means of hidden weapons underneath any form of clothing, because he simply wanted to go to prison, which begins his planned 10 year revenge against the entire American judicial system.

Bad guy family killer Clarence Darby (Christian Stolfe) "weirdly" only serves three years in prison, although he was the actual murderer of Clyde Shelton's wife and young daughter (while he watched) because he turned-on and confessed about his partner Rupert Ames (Josh Stewart) to the D.A.'s office after the two were immediately arrested regarding this horrific and violent crime. (This is where the judicial system failed in the eyes of Clyde Shelton).

Unfortunately? Because of un-clear court-room jury evidence. 96% conviction rate black-man Philly prosecutor Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx) had no choice but to make a deal with the defendant's (Clarence Darby) attorney to keep up this exceptional rate of conviction. Leaving this ruthless family killer an extremely light-prison term of only three years. (Gerard Butler showed his true acting facial talent as prosecutor Nick Rice walks outside the court-room door steps and shakes hands with the killer Darby shown in local Philadelphia newspapers).

"Beware of the surprising cell phone explosion! somewhere during the film?" You will also wonder? Who or Whom is really the bad guy? The un-caring prosecutor or the murder family victim of his wife and young daughter? "You will also think to yourself?" Is this really how the American judicial system actually works if you are a victim of a violent and horrific family murder member crime that will stay with you for the rest of your life? "Do these prosecutors or defendant attorneys really care about you as a Law Abiding Citizen?"

Prison inmate Clyde Shelton was slowly dragged and chained outside the prison gates silently by prosecutor Nick Rice (without any witnesses) and brutally struck by Nick's right-hand fist several times over and over showing bruises on his handsome/manly face. (This part of the film is where Gerard Butler shows his incredible acting ability stating the words in this film that will mostly be remembered forever as a film classic for critics).

Gerard Butler (Clyde Shelton) heroically states in this 2009 film classic: "I'm going to pull the whole thing down! I'm gonna bring the whole fucking diseased corrupt temple down on your head! It's going to be biblical!" (And trust me? This true victimized genius was NOT kidding? Somehow from his prison cell, he does succeed in killing Philly Justice members related to his 10 year old case one by one as he had planned for so many years).

Life-long great actor Bruce McGill (age 59 and also MacGyver's partner in the 1980's TV show) played an excellent character part in this film as one of prosecutor Nick Rice's superiors (Jonas Cantrell) who unfortunately was shot and killed by Clyde Shelton's "mysterious and completely in-genius revenge/vengeance" idea of how to kill each and every one these justice members that had anything to do with his case 10 years before Ironically from his prison cell?

"This part will keep you in suspense throughout the entire film!"

These two incredible famous Hollywood actors Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler do not play that many parts together in this action/adventure/violent often-times verbal dialogue profanity film regarding the (properly used) continuous word Fu.k. However? Whenever they do? The internal structure relationship between the two is absolutely award-winning. The DVD special features portrays director F. Gary Gray "Funnily" shows how much delightful famous celebrity white and black actors can work together in modern day Hollywood filming.

These 2010 DVD special features also tells "what is really happening?" In today's murder/crime situations with former special guest from the Philadelphia assistance D.A.'s office, telling exactly "the way it is" in the modern day American judicial system and "ironically" why murderers get away with these brutal and extremely violent crimes in front of a selected jury of 12 voters.
