Get Dad a DVD!

Becky Smith
For the dad that loves DVDs there are limitless choices available for Father's Day gifts. If you have more than one dad to buy for, you are sure to find something in the article below that will please all the men on your list.

If dad is a lover of great TV, you cannot go wrong with a DVD of one of his favorite television shows. Some of the classic hits that are currently available on DVD include: "Babylon 5", "Firefly", "Farscape", "Battlestar Galactica", and "Star Trek" for the science fiction fan.

Released on DVD in the past few weeks are several seasons of recent hit television shows like "House, M.D.", "The 4400", "Las Vegas", and "Everybody Loves Raymond".

Cable TV has given us some outstanding programming. HBO favorites "Deadwood", "Entourage", "The Sopranos", and "Six Feet Under" would all make great gifts, as would the Showtime series' that are available- "Brotherhood", and "Weeds".

If dad is a music fan, there are plenty of concert and music DVDs that will give him hours of enjoyment. Three "Rush" DVDs have been released recently. They are "Exit Stage Left", "Grace Under Pressure Tour 1984", and "A Show of Hands". Also out now are Bob Dylan's "Don't Look Back" and Pink Floyd's "A Momentary Lapse of Reason". Upcoming releases (before Father's Day!) include: "Bob Marley: Legend", "Queen: Rock Case Studies", and "U2: The DVD Collector's Box".

The special dad in your life may just prefer movies and there are plenty of new releases to choose from. "Pan's Labyrinth", "Apocalypto", "Letters from Iwo Jima" and "The Fountain" are all currently available.

Classic dads will like classic films. Present him with feature presentations such as "The Caine Mutiny", "The Sands of Iwo Jima", "Lawrence of Arabia", "The Quiet Man", or "The Bridge Over the River Kwai" and you will gain favorite child status.

Making dad laugh is another good way to earn points. Movies like "The 40-Year Old Virgin: Unrated", "Daddy Day Care", "Bruce Almighty", and "Night at the Museum" are guaranteed to have him giggling.

The summer months hold the promise of exciting sequels at the box office, so you may want to refresh dad's memory with the gift of "Shrek" and "Shrek 2", "Spiderman" and "Spiderman 2", or "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl", and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest".

No matter what kind of DVDs the man on your list likes, you will be able to find just the perfect one that he can enjoy this Father's Day and for years to come. Be sure to wrap his gift up with some microwave popcorn to enjoy during the show!
