DVD Movie Review: Ding Dong Dead

Yvonne M. Glasgow, Ph.D.

Creep Creepersin returns with another hair raising horror flick sure to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Starring Luke Y. Thompson, Elina Madison, Julia Boyd and a clever cast of other nobody's, Ding Dong Dead is about a gang. This is no ordinary gang, it's a girl gang. They call themselves The Ding Dong Ditchers. Why? Because they run around the neighborhood angering and frightening everyone while playing a rude game of ding dong ditch. Exciting huh? And you thought ding dong ditch was just a game for bored teenagers.

The movie has a slow start, watching some slob eat bananas, lie to his mom and drool over the neighbor from his window as she waters her plants. And more of him just talking to himself in his house. Then talking to himself in his car... And about 20 minutes into this 70 minutes movie he runs into part of the girl gang. Doug, the guy who talks to himself, decides to stand up to this ruthless gang (he thinks it will get him into the neighbors pants) but then something else happens.

One of the gang members goes missing and Doug ends up on their radar. They torment the whole neighborhood, starting a war. The funny thing is- when you meet this group of girls you see a group of girls with too much makeup and too much time on their hands. And the fact that they see ding dong ditch as some classic form of gang entertainment is a riot in itself. "Let's toilet paper them."

"They ring doorbells and then they run away." This movie will leave you wanting to run away. I am bored. I gave it a real shot, but this movie just has no substance.
