DVD Review: Tremors 3: Back to Perfection

And That's Why We're at the Top of the Food Chain!

The third Tremors movie brings back Burt Gummer from the other Tremors movies. He has become a graboid/shrieker expert bounty hunter. He is on his way back home to Perfection after doing his job as a graboid/shrieker hunter. When he arrives, he finds a new tour guide in Perfection who sells "tours" of the area, complete with a fake encounter with a graboid. Unfortunately, the fake encounter with a graboid has become all too real as the tour guide's assistant is eaten by a graboid during one of the tours.

Burt has sensors all over the Perfection Valley area so he knows immediately that there are once again graboids in the area. The other Perfection residents have not maintained their equipment though because it has been eleven years since there were graboids in the area and they hadn't wanted to believe that it could happen again.

One of the town's residents calls the government who sends agents to stop the killing of the graboids because the government wants to capture a graboid alive so that it can be studied. Burt knows how crazy this idea is but no one will listen to him. The government even plans to move all the Perfection residents out of the area, to their dismay.

Burt teams up with the tour guide, Jack [who talks Burt into this], to capture a live graboid. What ensues is a hilarious scene where Burt is swallowed by a graboid while he is inside of a barrel. He calls Jack on the walkie talkie and tells him to get the graboid to follow the truck and to run it right through the front gate of Burt's yard. Jack gets the graboid to follow the truck and drives through the gate to Burt's yard. When he does, the graboid slams into the cement barrier that is underground and that completely surrounds Burt's home compound. This kills the graboid, some of its orange blood leaks to the surface and then Jack runs to Burt's shed, grabs a chainsaw and a shovel, runs back and digs down to the graboid, then he takes the chainsaw and saws open the top of the graboid, pulls the "skin" apart and out pops Burt! It is the funniest scene in the entire movie or even the entire Tremors series. Burt comes out covered in orange goo and says "I would prefer...if we...kept this to ourselves."

After this, Burt, Jack, and a couple of others decide to hunt the graboids and kill them. It seems that the government agents have all been killed by either a graboid or shriekers.

Now we are introduced to a new incarnation of the graboid/shrieker creatures. Ass Blasters! Ass Blasters are a bigger version of a shrieker with a difference. They can fly. They do this by shaking their butts and mixing together flammable fluids, then farting which sends them soaring into the air. They still have heat sensors on their heads and they are still ravenously hungry. Evidently, it is the ass blaster form that lays the eggs that lead to the graboids that lead to the shriekers that lead to the ass blasters.....

This is a fun movie, not overly gory or gross, not a lot of profanity [I think ass is the profanity for the movie] and full of action and adventure.
