You know you have too many remotes. You're not even sure what that silver one does anymore. You need help, but are way too manly to admit it. I've been in your shoes and now I'm here to help. The way out of this mess isn't by admitting defeat. The way out is by buying the coolest universal remote you can get your hands on. It will control your tivo, DVR, DVD, TV, Cable, Blender, and 401k. It will also cost more money than you thought possible for a remote, but who ever said that dignity would be cheap? By buying these remotes you're not admitting to failure for not understanding your other remotes, you're embracing new technology. You're the gadget and gizmo guy. You're as close to a god as mere man can be. Why? Because you now have the unlimited power of a universal remote in your hand. Even better than having the power is knowing how to use it. These three remotes are all easy to use, have intuitive layouts, and can control your very destiny. Or at the very least, your DVR.

1) The Logitech Harmony One is a great remote for all of those confusing devices that are standing in your entertainment center. This remote features one touch access to all your devices. Want to watch the DVR? A DVR icon shows up on the full color touch screen. Press the icon and the remote will do the rest. The Logitech Harmony is capable of controlling more than 255,000 devices so you can be fairly certain it will work with whatever you have in your living room. It features an ergonomic design for those of you (us) who can't bear to put the remote down. Has a backlit screen so you can channel surf in the dark and it's rechargeable so no more worrying about changing the batteries. Your tivo and DVR have no chance against this monster. Whatever nonsense they throw at you the Logitech will throw right back in the form of commands they are compelled to obey. you can buy one at: http://tinyurl.com/6m9tdu for $209.00 dollars.

2) For those of us looking to spend a little bit less on a universal remote UEI Remote Control makes a model which doesn't have a cool name, but does have a model number of URC-6131N. Remember R2-D2 didn't' have a name either and he did all right for himself. This little magician is programmed to operate a TV, VCR, satellite receiver, Tivo DVR, a DVD player, and a receiver/amplifier right out of the box. It has one button designs for popular functions and two button combos for the least used devices in your arsenal like the crock pot your aunt Patricia left you. It uses two AA batteries and costs $8.99 at http://tinyurl.com/69jfxs

3) This is the highest priced remote of the three coming in at a cool $732.71, but it sure does do a lot. It's a little depressing to know that some of you have remotes that are worth more than my car. On the other hand if I lose my remote it's not a big deal. If you lose your remote you're out seven hundred bucks. So that makes me happy. Please excuse the class rage. Where was I? Oh yeah the Philips Pronto Home Control Panel can do pretty much anything. If you need to launch a smallish, unmanned, space vehicle this remote could probably do it. In reality it can control the lights, heat, air conditioning, dvr, tivo, TV, stereo, DVD, VCR, Betamax, and more. It has wifi capability and runs Microsoft Windows XP. In case you need some serious computing power while deciding between Dr. 90210 and The Girls Next Door. It features an LCD touch screen and can be found at http://tinyurl.com/5mrgmh.

As you can see universal remotes can be fairly inexpensive or cost more than a small three bedroom condo in Iraq. Before buying a universal dvr, tivo, entertainment system remote decide what you need to control and purchase the one that will take care of that. Don't purchase an eight hundred dollar remote to turn your stereo on and TV off.
