DWN (Disneyland Weekly News)

Jon Sugi
I am an avid Disneyland fan since I was born in California. Our family lived about thirty minutes from the park. But with California traffic the trip was always an hour and a half. There is not too much more about myself to know. But this weekly article was inspired by my parents. They are heading out to California to visit family in the Los Angeles area.

They also decided they were going to hit the Disneyland Resort and California Adventure theme parks. And being the big Disney fan I am they asked me if I knew anything about special shows or attractions that were closed. I had to tell them I had absolutely no idea and had to do some research for them. Then I had an idea of writing a article weekly to not only keep myself informed about what is happening, but to tell others what is happening on the Disneyland theme park. So here goes the maiden article of Disneyland Weekly News.

Walt Disney World is getting ready for the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Meanwhile Disneyland is preparing for its own version of the WDW celebration. The Disneyland version is known as "Halloween Time." Both the DLR and California Adventure parks are getting decked out in Halloween decorations. Not only are the decorations coming out but so are the characters. A new line of fall costumes are going to be on characters until October 31st. Also the park will be changing the looks and feel of the attractions. The biggest and personal favorite change applies to the Haunted Mansion.

The Haunted Mansion is changed into the Haunted Mansion Holiday. In this seasonal overlay the mansion is under Jack Skellington's control. The entire mansion is given a Nightmare Before Christmas overlay, following the storyline of the movie and mansion in the same ride. California Adventure will also be offering a hard ticket event for kids and their parents. Mickey's Halloween Treat will allow young ones and adults to roam around the park dressed up while trick or treating.

Currently the Casey Jr Circus Train, Storybook Canal Boats and Alice in Wonderland are under refurbishment. These three attractions are all located in the Fantasyland area. The biggest of the three has to be Alice in Wonderland. This is the only version of the ride in the United States. I am not sure but I don't think there is another type of this attraction in the overseas parks either. Casey Jr and the canal boats are scheduled to reopen on 10/05/07. While Alice is slated to open on 11/20/07.
