DWTS Review and Recap Season 11, Week 2

Jennifer Grey Has Another Knock Out Performance

Wendy Dawn
Jennifer Gray, Brandy, and Rick Fox are still my favorites on Dancing with the Stars, season 11. I have to admit following last week's performances that Audrina Patridge did a great job with Tony Dovolani. She looked fabulous and danced well, so they may also be up for a long run on DWTS 11.

David Hasselhoff and Kym Johnson, not surprisingly, were the first couple voted off. Hasselhoff claims to be the most watched celebrity in America. That's only when he is slobbering drunk on videos taken by his daughter. Otherwise, Americans are over "The Hoff," and proved as much by voting him off last week.

The Dancing - Dancing with the Stars, season 11, episode 2

Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke - danced the jive
Rick Fox's challenge to dancing the jive is an injury that snapped his tendon, causing some of the footwork to be painful to him. For the most part their footwork was good, but there was a major gaff when Rick Fox was supposed to spin a leg over Cheryl. That is the same type of move that showed how stiff David Hasselhoff was last week. Why couldn't they have left that out?

Len and Bruno boldly called Rick a contender in the DWTS 11 competition. Carrie Ann thought they did well, but said what I was thinking, their performance was better last week.

The scored 21.

Florence Henderson and Corky Ballas - danced the quick-step
Florence gave a sassy performance last week. The quick-step is a challenging dance for any performer, much less someone who is 76 years-old. The footwork was off a little, but they did a magnificent job on the turns and jaunt around the dance floor.

The audience responded with thunderous applause to the dance.

Bruno was a bit brutal with Florence and Corky, but he was honest. Carrie Ann thought Florence was elegant and light on her feet. Len was complimentary.

Florence Henderson and Corky Ballas scored 19.

Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy - danced the jive
Apparently Brandy and Maks had to work through style and personality issues as they practiced this week for the jive. Brandy and Maks both want to excel, but their drive for perfection is causing them to butt heads. They did a phenomenal job on the jive.

Carrie Ann called Brandy out for not pointing her toes and being a little sloppy. Len didn't like the way they pulled apart during the dance. Bruno stated it best. Okay from Brandy is not good enough. She has the potential to do exceptionally well on DWTS 11.

Brandy and Maks scored 21, which wasn't too bad.

Michael Bolton and Chelsie Hightower - danced the jive
Michael Bolton's task this week was simple. He had to straighten up his posture and concentrate on looking up and smiling. He had a set back during the practice week battling laryngitis.

Michael Bolton and Chelsie did better this week. Michael appeared uncomfortable and stiff, again. He forgot to smile, as instructed by the judges last week.

Len thought that the dance didn't fit Michael Bolton. Bruno said that this was the worst jive he has seen in 11 seasons. Carrie Ann respected the effort, but disliked the dance.

Michael Bolton and Chelsie scored 12. They may be the couple voted off on DWTS results show 2. There isn't much of a way they can make it through, unless Michael has the fan base to pull them through to next week.

Audrina Patridge and Tony - danced the quick-step
Following a stunning opening performance on Dancing with the Stars last week, Audrina and Tony had high expectations to live up to on week 2, DWTS 11.

Tony brought the "show pony" out of the barn at a quick trot this week. They moved quickly and elegantly all over the dance floor. Tony and Audrina have good chemistry and good moves on the dance floor.

Bruno had a few complaints about posture and steps. Carrie Ann enjoyed the performance. Len recognized it for being a good performance.

Audrina and Tony scored 23. They will definitely be around for another week.

Jennifer Grey and Derek - danced the jive
Jennifer and Derek's performance last week blew all the other couples away. This week's dance, the jive, was a challenging dance, but Jennifer Grey is simply a phenomenal dancer. Their performance was over-the-top again this week.

Carrie Ann, Len, and Bruno all affirmed what we witnessed on the dance floor. In Bruno's words - "That was wicked!"

Jennifer and Derek scored 24, again, which put them at the top of the leader board.

Louis van Amstel with Margaret Cho - danced the jive
Following last week's performance Margaret Cho had no where to go but up this week. Her performance on the Dancing with the Stars season premier was abysmal. Margaret's challenge this week was to be herself without bringing comedy to the dance floor.

Margaret's performance was 100% turn around from last week. She did a lot better, with only a few minor improvements recommended by the judges.

Margaret Cho and Louis van Amstel scored 18, which is better than last week's fiasco on the Dancing with the Stars ballroom floor.

Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer - danced a quick-step
The judges loved Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer on the season 11 premier of DWTS. I wasn't impressed with the choreography or the outcome. I was anxious to see what Kyle had to bring to the dance floor this week when the dancing required dancers to be quick and light on their feet.

Kyle managed to pull it off with an updated version of the quick-step. He was full of energy, but danced a little loosely.

Bruno told him to work on technique. Carrie Ann continued her infatuation with Kyle. Len tore into Kyle and Lacey. He had a lot of negative things to say, but all in all Len liked the dance.

With a score of 22, Kyle and Lacey will be around a little longer.

Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya - danced the jive
With a mediocre performance last week, expectations weren't too high for Kurt and Anna on week 2 of Dancing with the Stars, but they did a great job. It was a fun, high energy performance.

The judges praised their performance, and their score was 21. They need some votes to stay in DWTS, but they brought it to the dance floor this week.

Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and Karina Smirnoff - danced the quick-step
"The Situation" lucked out last week. Everyone knew he had only a few days to prepare because he had been filming Jersey Shore. This week he had as much time to prepare as everyone else, but a lot more to prove.

Mike's dance steps were off and it was a painful dance to watch.

Len called the dance "a series of unfortunate events." Bruno was as nice as he could be when insulting the dance. Carrie Ann told him the situation was that he needs to develop some musicality.

"The Situation" and Karina scored 18, which was better than last week's score.

Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas - danced the quick-step
The biggest surprise last week may have been Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas. I expected Bristol to be stiff and uncomfortable, but she proved that she could hold her own on the ballroom floor.

This week Bristol was cheered on by her mother, Sarah Palin, who was in the ballroom.

Her dance wasn't as smooth on week 2 of Dancing with the Stars, but it wasn't a bad performance.

Bruno was charmed by Bristol, but encouraged her to get into character to carry future dance performances. Carrie Ann made it clear that she wanted to see Bristol again, as did Len.

Bristol and Mark scored an honorable 22.

What will the results of the week 2 DWTS be?
I expect to see Michael Bolton and Chelsie go home tomorrow night.

What did you think of DWTS 11, episode 2? Who will you vote for, and who do you expect to see sent home tomorrow night?
