Dyer's Burgers

Dyer's is located at 205 Beale Street in Memphis, TN, 38103. Their telephone number is 901-527-3937. They are famous for their "ageless cooking grease." If you are traveling on I-40 West take exit 1 and merge onto S. Riverside Drive. Go past Jefferson Davis Park and Union Avenue and turn left on Beale Street. As of the time I am writing this there is free parking on weekends and after 5 PM on weekdays in the Auto Zone Corporate Headquarters parking lot (*verify that before parking when you go*). This parking lot is located at the intersection of South Riverside Drive and Beale Street.

If you are traveling on I-40 East take exit 1 and merge right on S. Riverside Drive. Go past Jefferson Davis Park and Union Avenue and turn left on Beale Street. If you are able to park in the Auto Zone parking lot, walk away from the river up Beale Street and you will eventually come to the Beale Street we all know and love. As you are walking up Beale Street, The Orpheum Theater and Memphis Light Gas & Water will be on your right. The walk to the Fed Ex Forum from Dyer's takes about 2 minutes so it is a great place to eat if you are attending an event at the Forum. Hard Rock Cafe and Coyote Ugly are located just down the street from Dyer's.

Dyer's has a very old time feel. You definitely feel like you are stepping back into the 1970s when you go into Dyer's. A trip to the drive-in movie theater would feel appropriate after visiting this place. There is a bar at the back of the restaurant and tables and booths at the front of the restaurant. The service was slightly above average. Our beverages never got to low and the staff was fairly pleasant most of the time. We sat at the back of the restaurant where most of the staff gathered when not waiting on tables and there was a lot of bickering among them. They did not hold back when discussing their feelings about certain co-workers but that did not take away from the meal.

I ordered the Dyer's Double Combo and the person I was with ordered the Dyer's Single With Cheese Combo. We both loved our burgers. The taste reminded me a little bit of a Sonic burger but slightly better. I mean there is something to be said about "ageless cooking grease." They gave us more than enough fries with our burgers. The fries are not like regular fast food fries. In other words, do not expect fries like you see at Burger King or McDonalds. Soft drinks are included with the combo.

The total price of our meal was $18.00. The Double Combo was approximately $7.00. The Single With Cheese Combo was approximately $6.50. Our subtotal was $14.73 and then we tipped $3.27 for a total of $18.00. Dyer's is a great place to eat when visiting Memphis. While I would not recommend taking your young kids down Beale Street, I have not seen anything to disturbing during my visits to Beale. With so many unique restaurants along Beale Street it can be hard to make a choice, but rest assured that if you visit Dyer's you will get a quality meal at an affordable price. The atmosphere is unique and Fed Ex Forum is a hop, skip, and jump away.
