DYI Easter Gifts Made from the Heart

Easter represents a time when the flowers are blooming, spring is in the air and a time for new growth. Families get together for the Easter holiday to share their love, reunite and celebrate a great time of the year. While the kids are hunting for Easter eggs and the adults are grilling outside and making potato salad inside, there is a lot of bonding that occurs. If you are looking to give your loved ones a homemade Easter gift from the heart, here are a few ways you can do that, right at home.

The gift of reflection:

Easter is such a special time to not only reflect on life, but celebrate what beauty you have and take action as well. With the spring breeze in the air, many people feel like this is the time to really change something in their life. For some its spring cleaning, and to others it's finding love or even getting healthy. Each person has their own goals, even if it just may be reflecting on what is beautiful in their own life. Help ignite that journey by providing them with some tools to do so.

What you'll want to do is purchase a simple journal, nothing fancy. Take it home and search the internet for quotes of meaning. As you find a quote that you think your loved one will enjoy, write it somewhere in the journal. You can place them sporadically throughout the journal, or you can write one in every page so they may reflect on that quote as their journal entry of the day. For an added flare you can decorate the journal or give the recipient beautiful stickers so they can add their own personal touch how they see fit. It's a simple gift but can mean so much.

The gift of deliciousness:

Who doesn't love sweets during the Easter season? The kids are running around finding chocolate bunnies and opening plastic Easter eggs to reveal sweets that make our mouths water but our waists lines grow. Why not give the gift of something healthy, yet tasty at the same time?

The way you can do this is by baking up some desserts in which you know what ingredients are going into it, thus creating the ability to make it healthy! Start by picking up a box of whole wheat cookies at a natural food store. While there, also pick up dark chocolate baking chips (which are good for the heart) and some nuts (which contain healthy, good fats). Bake up some cookies, or even some organic brownies if you feel the urge. Place on a decorative Easter plate and wrap with colorful saran wrap usually found around the holidays. Your loved ones will enjoy it and will not feel guilty indulging a bit on these instead of Easter candy!

The gift of clean and pampering:

Everyone knows that Easter comes around the time of major spring cleaning. It should also be a time to pamper yourself after all that cleaning and using natural, homemade, yummy soaps are just the treat. While I personally do not how to make handmade soap from scratch, I do enjoy the ease and convenience of handmade soap kits for sale. They are such a cool thing because you read the instructions, mix the products, let it cool and watch as your creation turns into magnificent and delicious soap you can transport right to your tub or give as a gift! If you're feeling extra creative, there are many soap-making dyi websites that teach you how to create soap from scratch, such as this one: http://www.mommamuse.com/2006/02/17/instructions-for-making-crock-pot-handmade-soap/. You might want to stop by the herb store on your way home from purchasing soap supplies so you can add in fun herbs such as lavender and chamomile!

I love making gifts and anything homemade so appreciated the article. I just loved your terminology, "the gift of deliciousness." It sounds very original and quite tasty! (^;^) Happy Easter!
