Dyker Beach Golf Course revisited

I finally made it out to Dyker Beach to play a round. I wasn't disappointed.

So remember how I mentioned that there was a golf course in the middle of Brooklyn and I couldn't believe it? Well, this weekend I finally made it out to Dyker Beach Golf Course to try my hand at the course that seemed like it had to be an urban oasis.

Well, let me tell you, it was a revelation. For a guy like me with a 60-yard slice, the enormously wide fairways and minimal trees made me think that me playing on the PGA Tour couldn't be too much of a pipe dream.

Seeing that we were only a stone's throw from Manhattan, the only downfall was that everyone and their mother (and sister and wife) were out during the day I decided to tee it up. The result was a six-hour round, but seeing as how the course catered to my exact style of play, it was worth it. The course was set up perfectly for my shanks, tops and duffs, and I carded my career round of an 89.

We celebrated with beers and some of the master chef's grilled sausages. If I can ever get out there at a decent time to avoid the crowds, Dyker Beach Golf Course will definitely climb into my top 10 favorite places to play.
