Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 Preview

Released in 2007, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam brought two popular franchises together. The game puts you into the Gundam universe of giant robots raging war Dynasty Warriors style. Despite getting mixed reviews, the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 (and later Playstation 2) title sold quite well.

Two years later, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam is getting a sequel. Can it improve upon the first game? Find out in this preview for Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 for the Playstation 2, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Story
In the distant future, rebel space colonies are at war against Earth. The new age of warfare has begun and the advance giant robots called Mobile Suits are leading the way. Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 will feature Mobile Suits from throughout the long-running anime franchise.

Graphics
Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 looks a little bit better than the original. Although it isn't the most detailed game around, the game does run smoothly despite having dozens of enemies on screen at once.

Sound
Similar to the original, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 will feature a mix of old and new voice-overs. Certain characters like Kira Yamato have the same voice actors from the anime show while others like Domon Kasshu have different voice actors.

Gameplay
Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 is basically your typical Dynasty Warriors game with giant robots.

As a powerful Mobile Suit, you plow through thousands of enemies in order to meet your objective. Once is awhile, you will run into different bosses that take a lot more effort in defeating. Otherwise, you will mindlessly hack-and-slash your way to victory.

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 does have some small differences from the more traditional Dynasty Warriors. The most prominent difference is that you are controlling a Mobile Suit instead of a Chinese of Japanese warlord. As a result, the battlefield is a lot grander and the scale is much bigger. Moreover, the Mobile Suits are more agile and has better long-range capabilities than the human warriors.

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 also offer some enhancements over the first game. The enemy artificial intelligence has been enhanced to add a little more challenge to the game. You will also encounter some enormous Mobile Suit enemies that will tower over you. The biggest improvement from the prequel, especially for Gundam fans, has to be the number of playable characters being increased to 62, more than three times of the first title.

Final Product
The final version of Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 will also feature online support for versus mode.

Just like the rest of the titles in the series, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 isn't for everyone. Unless you are a Gundam or Dynasty Warriors fan, you should rent before you buy. Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 will be released in late April for the Playstation 2, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360..
