Dyslexia Remedy Possibility

Brief Encounters with Dyslexic People

A mirror to read twice as fast or better?

My first encounters with dyslexic people occurred while the word dyslexia was non existent in my vocabulary. Observing certain students, sometimes writing some letters backwards or upside down, was my introduction to this dilemma.

The next encounter with a person that likely had some form of dyslexia, unknowingly at the time to me, led to a discovery. In the interview, the guy said, he saw the world differently than most people. He described it as seeing the world from its reflection in a mirror.

Still yet, the word dyslexia was unknown to me. My mother mentioned, one of my nephews has a reading problem, known as dyslexia, that is similar to a vision problem, kind of like seeing some things backwards.

An idea clicked in my head. I approached my nephew and brought the subject up. As luck would have it, we were in a room that had a wall that was all mirror.

I am not a record setting speed reader, but probably can read a page faster than most people by looking at its reflection in a mirror. I opened a book and faced it to the mirror, then asked my nephew to read it, expecting a slow read. He read the page as fast looking at it in the mirror, as I could read it looking at it directly.

If using a mirror to read, increases your reading speed, don't leave home without one. Replies from any that improve their reading speed by using a mirror, would very much be appreciated. Please leave a comment. Thank you.
