Pros
The Dyson DC16 Root 6 Handheld vacuum excels in term of suction power. The 21.6-volt battery does give powerful suction for a handheld. What separate this Dyson handheld vac with its competitors is the fact that it gives full power suction until the battery power dries. Some battery-operated handheld only gives full power suction for less than two minutes and then the suction power drops continuously even when the battery is still half full.
To turn on the DC16 you have to press the ON button and keep pushing it to keep the vacuum running. Some people hate it but I say Dyson made the right decision. They made this unit to only last at most 6 minutes after a recharge. With this kind of switch you can use it more than 6 minutes because when you are moving away from one dirty spot to another you can release the switch and preserve battery power.
This unit has a bright LED panel to show you the battery power level and it lets you know if it is time for a recharge. A full recharge only takes 3 hours which is a big plus since other handheld vacuums that use Ni-cad batteries took all day long to recharge.
When you talk about build quality, a Dyson is hard to beat. The build quality of DC16 Root 6 is excellent. It's made of high quality plastic with glossy finish and touch of details. It looks like a premium piece of equipment.
Cons
The balance of this unit is not too good. All of the weight is focused on the back. It's like holding a dumbbell but worse.
Conclusion
If you think 6 minutes is enough to do some spot-cleaning and you got $165 to spare you should get this handheld Dyson vacuum. It got the power, the look and the functionality. You may think that the price is too high but for this unit you really get what you paid for.
