Product Overview:
This is one of the higher end Dyson balls and in the past I have owned another model. I found this one to be only slightly better than the older less expensive versions but it is still a fantastic vacuum. The first thing you notice is that distinctive Dyson design. When you pick it up you can tell that you have something that is built to last which is an accomplishment because it is so light. The cleaning capabilities that you'll find in the Dyson Ball DC24 vacuum are remarkable especially on carpets. When it comes to thick carpets I can't imagine using another brand. The suction is just remarkable and as they say it never fades.
The features that are included are pretty decent as well. It includes a 17 foot or so extendable hose for reaching remote areas. I have found that I don't even need this because the vacuum is so maneuverable and light I can just bring the vacuum where ever I need to go. The maneuverability is a bit of an issue at first as you're getting used to it as it has a tendency to go all over the place if you're not careful. A little bit of practice and you'll have it mastered though. One of the only other downsides is that it has trouble with larger debris. If there are large pieces of say dog food it will actually break it up before it manages to suck it in to its reservoir. The reservoir is easy to clean though and the air is filtered with a nice HEPA filter which drastically reduces dust and airborne particles during the cleaning process. In fact I've never had a vacuum reduce airborne debris so drastically.
Value:
The Dyson DC24 Ball is a fantastic vacuum for those willing to fork out the cash. It is currently in the higher priced category at around $400 on the internet and in stores. It probably is worth all that money thanks to the effectiveness of the product. Judging by past moves from Dyson I wouldn't expect any significant price drops anytime soon so if you're in the market there isn't any reason to be hesitant with this product.
