Birthday Cards
Most people enjoy receiving e-mails, comments or wall posts, but there is still nothing that compares to feeling when a person receives a card through traditional mail. By simple remembering to send a card on a friend's birthday, especially a friend that does not expect to receive a card will reaffirm to that person how much you care about them. A person can send cards to everyone they want to very simply by just keeping a list of friends and family members birthdays where it can easily be seen so that a birthday is not forgotten. The cost of sending cards to multiple people can be limited by buying cards at dollar store or buying packs that contain multiple birthday cards and by stockpiling the stamps that are always good no matter what the current rate of postage. The card will make a greater impression if a person writes a personal note in the card, instead of just signing one's name at the bottom of the card.
Phone Calls
A random call or voice mail will show a person how much they are cared about more than an email or wall posting. Even just talking to someone that doesn't live close to a person for five to ten minutes every once in a while, can be a great way to stay connected to those people who they went to school with that they do not often get to see. Hearing a person's voice and having an actual conversation with someone can be key in remaining close to and connected with those people that a person went to school with and care about.
E-mail is an inexpensive and easy way to stay in contact with those people that a person attended school with. Checking up on people and having conversations through email is definitely one of the easiest ways to keep individuals a person cares about in their lives. An additional idea for ways to use email to stay connected is to feel out those questionnaires about oneself a couple times a year and forward them to the people that a person does not see often. Another way is to send out a person's Christmas letter using email.
Social Networking
Web sites such as Facebook, MySpace, Friendster and Classmates can help all people stay connected with those that they love and work exceptionally well for those people who attended school together. The abilities to post pictures, send messages, and blog on these sites are the keys to their functionality to keep people connected.
