Each Day Should Be Mother's Day

"Your Mother," he said, when the man stepped up and asked whom he should treat the best.
"Your Mother," he said, when the man came back and asked, "After Mother, who's next?"
"Your Mother," he said, when the man asked again, thinking this must be some test.
"Your Father," he said, "is the fourth one in line." With this, the man quietly left.

Our mothers, they carried us deep in their wombs, suffering discomfort and strain.
Our mothers, they bore us into this world, suffering unfathomable pain.
Our mothers, they taught us to walk and to talk, helping again and again.
With all that they did in those first three years, how could we think to complain?

Yet as we grew up, she continued to serve in her quiet, unobtrusive way.
She cooked all our meals and mended our clothes and kept us safe while we played.
As we got older, and learned right from wrong, 'twas our mother who taught us to pray.
And this is why God ordained that each day should be Mother's Day.

"Honor your mother," is what He commands. "Treat her with kindness and love.
When you address her, keep your voice as soft as the coo of a dove."
Kiss her hands and seek her blessings, and remember how hard she strove
To raise you well and to keep you safe for the sake of God up above.

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers in the world, on Mother's Day and every day.
