Jerry Shaw (Shia LaBeouf) and Rachel Holloman (Michelle Monaghan) are doing as they are told by an unknown source. They are being threatened by harm to either them or their family and therefore they comply. Billy Bob Thornton and Rosario Dawson play agents that chase them down like the fugitives they were not. Eagle Eye.
Let's just get this straight, Eagle Eye is not Oscar caliber and it's certainly not one of the best films of the year, but it does deliver scene of action after action after action. Believability might have to be suspended but the ideal is fascinating even if most of what happened is impossible to those that have to be overly critical.
Apparently if plausibility is important to you and having fun via action filled movie isn't at all then you will not like this film. Die Hard is a well liked series of movies and there is no way any of what goes on in that could happen to one person and they'd still be alive, but that doesn't take away from the fun of it all. It's the same with Indiana Jones. People tend to have their lines they just can't cross no matter how stupid they might be, and maybe the lack of plausibility in this film is just too much.
I enjoyed the film because it was full of action that just kept on going and going all the way to the end. I did get a little tired because it does reach a point where it's just too long and I want it to be done. Shia LaBeouf and Rachel Holloman are entertaining together. He's on a roll that Shia. He has got one hit after another (via box office).
Eagle Eye isn't an Oscar winner nor is it one that will be classic greatness. It is, however, entertaining and worth the money to see it as long as you understand (and should have via the trailer) that it was going to be out there from beginning to the end. It does remind me of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Why, you may ask? Well why else would it remind me of such a movie?
The technology they use in this film such as the cell phone camera being used to see someone's face without them actually using the phone to speak is pretty interesting, especially if they can activate the microphone and hear conversations that way as well. I'm not a wiz at this but I'm sure it's possible and that just adds to the fun of life, now doesn't it?
