Early CDC H1N1 Death Estimate 1,200 Now Rises to Almost 4,000

What Are These H1N1 Swine Flu Numbers Really Saying to the American Public?

M. Kayo
High influenza levels are currently being reported in 48 states as widespread flu activity continues to increase throughout the U.S. The high numbers of reported widespread flu activity this time of year are "unprecedented" as compared to a typical flu season. The CDC reports 17,838 people hospitalized and 672 deaths from August 30 to October 31, 2009 due to an "influenza-like illness." These estimates are compiled from the number of laboratory confirmed cases as well as cases that record cause of death to be pneumonia, organ failure and other conditions brought on by the flu virus.

Numbers From the President's Council

A forecast from the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology which was widely publicized in August of this year estimated the H1N1 swine flu virus would kill as many as 90,000 Americans. University of Washington flu epidemiologist, Ira Longini is not surprised that the increased estimated death toll is higher.

Swine Flu Deaths Double in Europe

For three of the last four weeks, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control in Stockholm has reported almost double the amount of deaths. The swine flu outbreak has hit northern European countries the hardest. Just five weeks ago the number of deaths was just 12, doubling the next week to 24 and again the following week to 49 deaths. Last week the swine flu took 84 lives in Europe.

What's Really Going On Here

The regular flu virus kills about 36,000 people every year in this country. While the numbers being reported for swine flu or H1N1 deaths may seem alarming, these numbers are not far from a typical flu season. The H1N1 swine flu has a great publicist in the CDC and the pharmaceutical industry. Look carefully at the CDC numbers from reported causes of death. These reported "swine flu deaths" could have been caused by some other condition or disease. What exactly is going on with these numbers? Who stands to profit from all of this?

Before you answer these questions, remember the French Investment Banker Jerome Kerviel and the $7 billion dollars he made form investment fraud just last year. At one point during his elaborate scam, Mr. Kerviel put the bank for whom he was working in a position where they would lose the equivalent of about half of all the gold and currency reserves held by France. The market finally plunged and his scam was discovered. How much money is too much? Perhaps the pharmaceutical industry in this country needs to take a long, hard look at what it's doing.
