Early Morning Concerto

By dawn's early light;
In the breath of early spring;
The music has begun;

High in the tree tops;
The Northern Cardinal sings;
To woo his lady;

I hear the rhythm
Of a Woodpecker tapping;
On a trunk of wood;

Gentle coos I hear;
Pairs of Mourning Doves courting;
High upon the boughs;

A Robin whistles;
Puffs out his breast of bright red;
Ushers in the day

    Oops...I messed up the first verse...I forgot to take out the word "the" so the last line has six syllables instead of the intended 5....grrr!!!

    I love nature. I wake up every morning to birds singing. It is part of the joy of owning rice finches. Great writing!
