Early Spring

Casey
Spring whispers through my fingertips

Birds are singing, migrating back

Back to the Northwoods of Minnesota

Open windows letting fresh air through

Mornings are warmer

Days are longer

Winter jackets are stored away

Pussywilows have already came and gone

In there short bloom

Grass is green

Most Easter's I remember there was snow

Now winters grow shorter

Summer's hotter

New records set on Lake Vermillion for ice out

The earth is changing

In my short amount of years

I can look back to when snow covered our patio door

My swing set was barley visible

Besides where I stood on the top

You could get lost in the snow when I was young

Now we get barely enough to ride a sled in the dead of winter

We got plowed out twice this winter

It's not right

Spring keeps coming earlier and earlier
