Ears to Hear

(The voice of God comes from off stage calling her name.)

GOD: "Jill!"

JILL: "Who's there?"

GOD: "I want to talk to you, Jill."

JILL: "Is that You, Lord?"

SILENCE

JILL: "That is You, isn't it, Lord?"

GOD: "I want to talk to you, Jill."

JILL:(Looking at her watch)"Maybe later, Lord. I am really in a hurry now, Lord. I have important things to do." (hurries past)

(Aaron comes up the aisle playing a gameboy. He starts walking while Jill is speaking)

GOD: "I want to talk to you, Aaron."

AARON: "Aw God. I just want to have fun."

(David walks across.)

GOD: "I want to talk to you, David!"

DAVID: "But You don't understand, Lord. I have a sermon to prepare, and I am trying to think of a really good joke."

(Marlene stomps by, angry.)

GOD: "Marlene, I want to talk to you."

MARLENE: "But I am mad God. I hate Andrew!"

(Andrew mopes across the front)

GOD: "I want to talk to you, Andrew!"

ANDREW: (holding his ears) O God, I am afraid to listen to You. I've sinned really bad!"

(Rachel saunters to the mike with her hands in her pocket.)

GOD: "I want to talk to you, Rachel.."

RACHEL: "Really! You are the Creator of the Universe, and You want to talk to me!"

GOD: "Yes Rachel, I want to tell you how precious you are to me. I gave my Son to die for you."

RACHEL: (joyful) "O Lord, that's wonderful!"

(Jill returns to the mike)

JILL: "Do You still have time to talk to me, Lord? I want to listen.

GOD: "Yes, Jill, I have a purpose for you that will fill your life with meaning."

JILL: "That is probably more important than what I have to do right now, isn't it Lord?"

GOD: "It is more important than you will ever understand."

(Aaron returns)

AARON: "What about me, Lord? Do You still want to talk to me?"

GOD: "Yes, Aaron. And you are really going to like my Joy!"

(Marlene returns to the mike)

MARLENE: "I would like some peace, Lord. But You have something harder than that for me, don't you?"

GOD: "I have great peace for you, Marlene, it comes with my joy. I want you to forgive Andrew, so you can receive my joy and peace."

MARLENE: But he really hurt me God. And he never said he was sorry either."

GOD: "I will help you forgive him.

MARLENE: "How do I start?"

GOD: "You could ask me to forgive him."

MARLENE: "Okay, I guess I can do that. "

GOD: "Then, tell him that I love him.

(Andrew returns)

ANDREW: "Lord, did I hear You tell Marlene that You would forgive me?

MARLENE: "That is what He says, Andrew. He wants more than anything to forgive you. And I want to forgive you too.

(David returns to the mike.)

DAVID: O Lord, I need You to talk to me too."GOD: "Yes, David; You need to hear a word from me for My people. They're hungry to hear from me."
