Earth Day 2009 Poem for Al Gore

Lynda Braun
There once was a man named Al Gore
Who lost the race for president, to be sure
But, he turned this around
With his feet on the ground
By declaring an essential war.

The war is against global warming
He stated the facts as if storming
We must save our earth,
It's our right, by our birth,
We must stop this evil from forming!

Greenhouse gases trap heat in the air
It's time we all stand up and care
Plant a tree for more shade
Let us stop this charade
We must do what is right and what's fair.

Take a walk, not your car for a day
You will help to save gas just that way
Paint with latex, not oil
Don't let our earth spoil
Please listen to what he does say.

Now, lower your heat, if you please
If only a mere few degrees
Then turn off some lights
It's really quite nice
To cool off the earth and our seas

With an Oscar and Noble Peace Prize
Mr. Gore, has opened our eyes
Let's each do our part
Give straight from the heart
So our beautiful earth won't demise

So, I think I have lectured enough
You know we all have the right stuff
To turn this around
With our feet on the ground
I promise it won't be too tough.
