Earth Day Events in New York City-The Giant Earth Images. This exhibit will run April 19th through 25th at Grand Central Terminal in the heart of New York City. Projected on two of the columns in the terminal's main concourse will be photographs, artwork, inspirational messages and quotes by such artists as Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Roy Lichtenstein and Rafal Olbinski to name a few. The exhibit runs 10 hours a day for the entire week and is free to the public. For more information, please go here.
Earth Day Events in New York City-Earth Fair. This two-day event also takes place at New York's Grand Central Terminal. Earth Fair is a large event featuring exhibitors promoting organic food, green businesses and environmental non-profit groups. Live music, performances and entertainment highlight the outdoor festival. The event takes place April 23rd (noon until 7 p.m.) and April 24th (11 a.m. until 5 p.m.). Let the Chess & Checkers House staff help you and your family celebrate Earth Day with natured-inspired crafts. This free event is open to kids and adults of all ages. Earth Day Events in New York City-"Under the Canopy" Exhibit. "Under the Canopy" will be celebrating Earth Day along with Central Park's trees at the event that takes place April 22nd from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Charles A. Dana Discovery Center located inside Central Park. This free event will showcase the 152 different trees (over 24,000 in all!) found in Central Park. The exhibit interpretation is led by Central Park Conservancy staff who will discuss the day-to-day maintenance required as well as the different species. Refreshments will be served.
