Earth Day or Birth of Generation Greenie?

Turn Off the Lights-What Do You Think Will Happen?

RaddWrites
In an attempt to save the planet--Earth Day is a much desired event. Turning your power off for one hour is a small price to give back. Very American and the right thing to do. Earth Day can help to restore the planet we have all come to love and take for granted. And love we will! If the lights are out people could use this time to enrich the earth in another way. Waiting for nine months to pass just may see the birth of generation greenie.

In sixty years from now our fellow writers will produce content on Earth Day babies, or generation greenie' s. A mirror image to the baby boomers. May seem far fetched-but it could become reality. We saw the flush of babies born during Haley's comet. Haley became the popular name for that instant in time. Hurricane Katrina gave birth to another name well spread. Seems fitting that Earth Day will also produce a generation of new names and faces. I shudder to think of the name pool for this group of lucky lives.

Parents could name their child, "Twinkle", "Moon", "Earth", "Dark Sky", or "Night". I'm sure parents could become very creative in choosing a name for their Earth Day baby. It could be a fun adventure to construct a list for this purpose. What if twins were conceived? Next time you go shopping you just may see a pocket size book at the check out stand tittled, " EARTH DAY NAMES FOR BABY". How organic would that be?

When the lights are out, what will you do?

I plan on doing my part! Well to a point, anyway. I won't be here to see the Earth Day babies become of age. I can conserve with the rest of you. Hopefully to make sure the planet is here for generation greenie. It's all about the future and the next generation. It's all about the children and leaving them a world that is fresh and pure. We want them to know we tried to save some for them.

Maybe you will be blessed with an Earth Day grandchild. Many will say; "Everyday is Earth Day". True. Yet everyone knows their Grandchild is most special. As you help to save the planet, keep in mind-it's for your future family for generations to come.

Lights on or lights off, another generation will be born. Remember to recycle, reuse, and celebrate Earth.

Great article. They say if we all do one small part it will add up in the end. Sounds good to me.

Ooops...posted too quickly. We definitely need to be more considerate of our Earth. There are so many great things that we can do, shutting off the lights (and all other incidental electronics) for one hour is really easy to do!

What beautiful recognition to what Earth Day means! If I should see a book store on Earth Day names for babies, I hope the author's name is yours. How about it? That's a great concept. Love the humor in your article!

Why not have a World-wide earthday (lights off, energy off for just 1 hour) on every 1st. of the month? Can you imagine the impact in saving energy for such a small price? I am going to start, who's going to follow?Excellent article Antonette!
