except when they change the day
Sometimes it's April,
Sometimes its March
Sometimes it's on both this and that day
This year I'll celebrate in my garden
Where the earth
it helps me to nourish
My body, my mind, my soul, my heart
It helps all that and more, to flourish
It will be the beginning, of the last
year as a twenty-something
that I'll have in my life
My time has been pure
next year will come is thirty
Don't know if it's cause the earth and I share a day or not
my garden it grows vibrant and green
growing fruits, berries veggies and more
Kale, lilies, blueberries, and peas,
Then there is the 17+ maverick melons
planted by my 'plants have rights too'
activist child,
who found and planted
a handful of seeds in my garden
where mysteriously, they grew
I figured it out with an empty seed packet
of something I don't recall planting
My four year old smiled, denied taking part
then fessed up when she couldn't help smiling
So this year on Earth Day
as the melons relocate
We'll celebrate my birthday
family in the sun as we celebrate life
and all the lovely harvest to come
