Earth Day Celebrations

In Columbus, Ohio

Earth Day is a celebration for our modern times. It is as much a learning experience as it is a time of festivity, and has gained much global emphasis in recent years.

Since Columbus, Ohio, celebrated its first Earth Day forty years ago, the events and organizers have grown as our culture has discovered the need for global conservation. Far from a small event, Green Columbus, a local organization, has undertaken a 2-part, 3 day series of community awareness projects. The diversity and breadth of the events represents Ohio's Commitment to awareness and involvement.

At the heart of Green Columbus' mission are two main events, a pre-Earth Day Volunteer Cleanup Project encompassing many of Columbus's Urban parks, and a Main Day official Festival at Franklin Park. Many other organizations have taken it upon themselves to get involved, offering classes, workshops, movies and other community projects, as well. Here is a sampling of the exciting ways to get educated and involved in Columbus. The festivities kick off in the beginning of April, cumulating in the main event at Franklin Park on Thursday, April 22nd, and continuing on into the weekend.
