Earth Day Playlist

Earth Day is April 22, 2009. The grassroots origins of the Earth Day celebration dates back to the 1960's. It began with the idea in mind to bring environmental issues to the fore in the political arenas. The first official Earth Day was April 22, 1970. Today Earth Day is a celebration of caring for the earth as responsible stewards. It is about educating everyone on how we each have a share in preserving the environment for ourselves and the generations to come.

While Earth Day is observed by the media, hundreds of local groups and noted on calendars as April 22, many extend the celebration for an entire week, beginning April 16 and ending on the 22^nd. Some even celebrate Earth Month. And still others celebrate Earth Day on the Spring Equinox which falls around March 21. Earth Day is marked by many local events and festivals which generally take place on a weekend,
