Earth Friendly Clothes for Your Kids

Organic is IN-- even when it comes to kiddie wear. Fashion designers these days realize at last that saving the earth is good for business! Zah Organics for instance explains that when purchasing the traditional "cotton" shirts, about only 25% of the product is REALLY cotton, while 75% is made out of chemicals! Thus, they have introduced their clothing line, called "Go Natural Baby" made out of 100% organic cotton. In short, your kids have the choice of choosing what clothes should "hug" their skin and it certainly shouldn't be chemicals. Zah Organics explains however that their sizes are about 10 % more than the conventional size. Why? because REAL cotton is expected to shrink after you wash it but the "shinkage percentage" has been carefully estimated. Thus, you may think you're buying dresses or outfits that look too huge for your kid, but after a wash, you'll find out that it has the perfect fit for your child. That certainly is so "little" to pay when you think of all the toxins on the chemicals that touch your baby's skin.( For more information on styles you can find their site at http://www.gonaturalbaby.com)

Zoe and Sprout is one of our favorites when it comes to baby and toddler clothes. Their baby clothes are spunky and funny with slogans like "My Momma is Hotter than Your Momma!", "I Shot JR", " Eat Sleep Poop" -- and they're a hundred percent certified organic. This cool collection for kids has partnered with Keep America Beautiful and has pledged 3% of its sales to that organization. Like Zah Organics, it does tell you that there will be a certain amount of shrinkage but should you be unsatisfied with your purchase for one reason or another, you can return your item and get a refund within 30 days. (For more information on their cute baby and toddlers clothing see http://www.zoeandsprouts.com)

Kid Bean is likewise as good. Their kids and teen clothes are 100% pure cotton. They offer clothes for kids up to 16 years old, but they also have a grand array of all types of bed and bath products. They make it a point to make it clear than most of all their products are 100% pure cotton and vegan products. All of their products are made in the USA and "ethically produced". This means that "slave labor" or "sweat shop factories" were NOT used to produce ANY item they're selling. The awesome story behind Kid Bean is that it was started in 1999 by a woman, Melissa Zenz, after giving birth to her first baby which gave her the inspiration to create products which are both vegan and earth friendly. There is so much to be learned at their website- http://www.kidbeam.com.

Bambino Land offers toddlers clothes, shoes, baby clothes, diapers, bath and body products that are made of bamboo, hemp, soybean fiber and wool. They have "all season products" that can keep your baby comfy and free from all toxic allergies. They also have a rather interesting line-up of products particularly their "soybean fiber product" which they claim has almost the same feel of silk. "Soft, smooth and light" according to their website http://www.bambinoland.com.

90210 Organics sells almost EVERYTHING from kiddie clothes to maternity dresses, bed wear even pet wear. Their designs are definitely A-1 and some of their maternity dresses styles beat those from Paris' high-end "designer brands". 90210 also has other organic products aside from clothes such as scents, facials and baths. This company was also started by two women, Sarah and Jenny (last names withheld) who are two Californian moms who believe that "green is not a trend, but a way of life". The founders of this company also believe that vegan is the best way to live adding "God created us to enjoy all his creation". There is so much to see on their website ( http://www.901210oragnics.com).

Oscar and Belle has the best organic knits for kids. Most of their items are made out of 100% cotton and they're a member of the Organic Trade Association. They claim that all their items are 100% cotton and they have one of the most colorful kiddie clothing line. Their founder, Anna Gustafson believes that wearing organic clothing should not be a drabby experience adding "you won't find potato sacks here". This is one organic company with a sense of humor, which makes it rather distinctive from most "earth friendly" and "vegan" companies. If for the sense of humor alone, I'd certainly believe in her products. After all they do seem to be the most picturesque.

There are other online and traditional stores that sell organic clothing for kids. These are some of the best though and their prices are within the reasonable range. Wear organic? Why NOT even if you aren't a vegan or passionately earth-friendly. After all, they are comfortable and GOOD products, they do NOT "use" sweatshops and they stand for something. My idealism tells me to go for it !
