Earth Friendly Methods for Caring for Your Hair

As more people become health conscious and environmentally aware, even the simplest, everyday beauty products such as shampoo and other hair beauty products can raise a concern. A lot of shampoos contain sulfates which can have a negative effect on your overall health, and using it on a daily basis is not that comforting either. Also, a lot of hair styling or hair care products are comprised of harmful synthetic chemicals. Creating your own shampoo and hair care products using all natural ingredients can put an end to those qualms.

When creating your own natural shampoo, you will need to obtain the following ingredients: a cup of distilled water, three to six herbal tea bags or two tablespoons equivalent of dried herbs, two tablespoons equivalent of castile soap, one tablespoon equivalent of vegetable oil, and apple cider vinegar. You will also need a medium sized saucepan, a strainer, and a re-sealable airtight container. Follow these directions. First boil the distilled water. Then add the dried herbs (preferably chamomile) or herbal tea bags to the boiling water. Make sure to keep steeping the herbs or teabags until the water turns to a lukewarm temperature. Remove the herbs (with the strainer) or teabags from the solution. Add the castile soap to the solution and blend well. The follow with the vegetable oil and blend thoroughly. You can also add several drops of naturally scented oils if you desire. After you use the shampoo solution to wash your hair, apply equal amounts of the apple cider vinegar with water and use as a replacement for conditioner.

Here are some all natural remedies for hair care and maintenance. You can use the following all natural ingredients to improve the overall appearance and health of your hair. A few tablespoons of olive oil massaged into your hair (especially the ends or most damaged parts of your hair) can be used as a substitute for hair leave in treatment and will leave your hair moisturized and glossy. Baby oil can also be used, but not recommended for those with color treated or highlighted hair as the color may fade faster with use. Rubbing your locks of hair and massaging your scalp with equal portions of distilled vinegar and water can provide your hair with additional radiant shine. Also, creating a simple solution of one third baking soda and two-thirds water creates a more concentrated shampoo cleansing paste for your hair if you deal with problems such as dandruff and itchy scalp or if you tend to have oily hair often.
