EARTH RECYCLES DEATH and LIFE

A Poem

Deonils
I
a friend died a week ago
i clung to the stinking corpse in sorrow
... forgot how Earth suffers also
until the meaning of Lent dealt me a blow

II
waking from a sleep, perhaps by a kick
at the door of my temple, a true friend
showed me the sin of being so love-sick
when pure cherry blossoms near their end

III
first, syrupy words from space imitated mango
then my non-friend showed the love of control
selecting my words of peace, new enemies also
while daffodils danced outside ... O my soul!

IV
my calm worship torn asunder, love of flowers ...
all offered to this new demonic darling;
yet golden forsythia channeled the sun's powers
back to earth, while I lay dying

V
I arose, kicked by the news of crucifixion and resurrection
Overcoming spring deaths and freezing, I sing joyously with Earth's forgiven!

thanks wonderful Bonnie Stanford. I had lots of fun ...but I better watch my use of caps, because they are perhaps acceptable only in the titles. Take good care--peace/joy/shalom

Hello Freakmamma, that line reminded me of the attractions of mago-lassi. It is offered in Indian restaurants as a dessert; but I had them naturally direct from the trees- as a youth. Thanks much. Blessings- Deonils

Cathy, perhaps the best gratitude for your kind words is: we do try to share soulful words with each other. Thanks and blessings through the week and season. Deonils

Very interesting. "syrupy words from space imitated mango" .. that line is going to stick with me for a while.
