Eartha Kitt Vs Jane Fonda

You Can Oppose the War and Not Oppose the Warriors

Mr. Chip's
So what is this editorial going to be about? You see versus. And of late we see so many shows with this so-called "VS" on them such as on "Spike" TV you see a lot of versus programs. The MMA shows, the athletes vs regular guys show and the list goes on and on. It seems like everything is some kind of versus thing. So now I will explain my versus, But I could have just titled it. Eartha Kitt supported our Vietnam soldiers and was wrongly defamed and made an example of because of her stance against the Vietnam war. So now where does Jane Fonda fit into this picture. By the way you can find both parts of my editorial in info. from wikipedia. And from my own extensive research. The only thing I have not done is interview Jane Fonda. Maybe one day I'll get my chance.

Eartha Kitt was asked my First Lady Johnson in 1968 to offer her opinion on the war in Vietnam, So she did. In my opinion the First Lady and President Johnson went over board in ostracizing Ms. Kitt and practically destroyed her career. That Ms. Kitt at no time opposed the Vietnam veterans, She in no way criticized US military leaders and most of all she did not travel into North Vietnam in a show of solidarity because she opposed the Vietnam war.

Jane Fonda (please google or what have you) did criticize American military and political leaders. She called them war criminals. She may have opposed the Vietnam war. But she really did it in such a stupid way. Of actually visiting North Vietnam and consorting with the NVA who probably Khmer Rouge I would not be surprised, So while these mass murderers were killing American troops, South Vietnamese troops and their own people. Jane Fonda was posing for pictures on NVA Anti-aircraft guns with a NVA flag in the background. Then in wikipedia and in many of her interviews. She cries and complains that she was framed, And that the photo opportunites were staged and she was set up. Well "Boo" "Hoo" now I see where she got the name Hanoi Jane. She can apologize she wants but she will live and die with the fact that she spoke on radio Hanoi against the United States and against US soldiers and our allies, One of the soldiers over in Southeast Asia was my father. He understands Eartha Kitt opposing the Vietnam war but she still went out of her way to comfort and uplift the vets when she was able. Recently a photo has appeared in the news with the recent closing of a DC landmark, Walter Reed Medical Center. And in a photo is Eartha Kitt cheering up a Vietnam Veteran at Walter Reed. Even after President and First Lady Johnson had all but extinguished her career including making her feel very unwelcomed in her own United States of America.

Well I am finished for now. I owe so much to many. My parents who are stellar Eartha Kitt fans. And to Mrs. Kitt Shapiro and most of all to House Member Gilda Cobb-Hunter who is still working tirelessly on a bill here in this state H3351 to finally give Ms. Kitt her long overdue honor. I hope you join us in seeing it come to pass next year. And thank you Eartha for not giving up on America even when America gave up on you!

Note from Mr. Chip's: I could almost write another OP-ED on the topic of what Vietnam did to the very young men and women who served and who gave their lives for which I am grateful as a former vet now disabled by so-called PTSD, I wasn't going to even make a comment but then I go back to what Eartha Kitt tried to explain to First Lady Johnson in 1968 if memory serves me and I paraphrase: you are sending these young "kids" into harm's way many have never been out their hometowns much or less out of the United States. So why are you surprised the backlash that is happening (meaning in Vietnam and the anti-war protests in America) kids are taking dope, promiscuity running rampant so many fathering and mothering kids and not being responsible, horrible things like the murder of college students by National Guardsman at Kent State here in this state the Orangeburg Massacre, The Massacre at Mai Lai bt Lieutenant Calli. Unfortunately hindsight is 20/20 Eartha saw it and tried to speak the truth. Yet and still even amongst the horror and pain and loss that was the Vietnam war Eartha still reached out to the warriors. ( Mr. Chip's welcomes any and all comments to my editorial piece and again I am grateful to the Vietnam vets and all vets who are serving and will serve as I tried to serve and my dad did his service)
