Planting a Tree
Planting a tree is a wonderful way to celebrate the earth and Mother's Day. You can take your mother or buy her a small tree to plant either in your yard, her yard or a special place where they allow you to do so. The trees can be purchased at a nursery, local stores or even local hardware stores. The two of you can look through the different types of tress and even purchase one that symbolizes something special for the family.
Making a Wind Chime
If you have aluminum cans you can recycle them into making a wind chime for Mother's House. First, make sure that you have at least six aluminum cans to work with. You will need a thick string to attach the cans together and a scissors to cut the cans. After you have the scissors cut the cans in the middle and make sure to take out about a third of the can's material. If you are doing this with a small child, have the adult cut the can for them as the edges maybe sharp. Next, attach all the cans together with a string through the hole or mouth of the can. You may wish to use something for the string to hang from, something like a hanger or other item that can be used to prop up outside the house. Once your wind chime is done you can place it outside her house to allow the wind to just breeze right through. Giving your mother a very nice "green" day.
Taking a Nature Hike
There are places in which offer nature walks. This is a beautiful way to celebrate Mother's Day. Taking a walk allows your mother and you the time together and also to celebrate the Earth. Nature walks provide entertainment by looking at your surroundings and seeing all the creatures that can come out while you are there. Your mother will enjoy the time outdoors and an amazing "Green" type of activity.
Have a picnic instead of a huge dinner
A picnic is a great way to help celebrate Mother's Day for an eco-friendly mother. Instead of having a huge dinner out somewhere, have a picnic. Weather permitting a bike ride to a local park will make a perfect day. Items can be taken ranging from sandwiches to fruits in a recyclable bag. This activity can even be done while there is another outdoor event going on or even just inside your house if the weather is not suitable for being outside at the time.
