Easily Convert Your Large AVI Videos into Small MP4 Files for Youtube

Turn Any AVI that is Too Large for Youtube into a Suitable MP4 Automatically!

James W.
Lets say you have a neat little netbook and are recording a video segment for publicity, or you just want to share a video you made with your friends online with Youtube. You make a fantastic recording and are extremely pleased with it, but as you go to upload your file to Youtube's servers, you find that it is hundreds of megabytes...way too large for Youtube to handle and let you upload. What do you do?

Some people start to panic or wonder if they should edit their video and try to cut it down to size, while others have gone as far as to completely re-record the entire thing over again and delete what they already have! There's no need to do that, though. You don't even have to worry or stress about this situation really, because as long as you have a special program that converts your videos into a much smaller file size without losing any of its quality or fidelity, you can take care of it in a couple of minutes and create a new file which will be perfect on youtube. All that you will need for this is a working computer running Windows XP, and a free program called Free AVI to MP4 converter, available for download from the brothersoft web site at http://www.brothersoft.com/doremisoft-free-avi-to-mp4-converter-download-169693.html or the main site at http://www.mp4kits.com

When you have downloaded the file, you'll want to run and install the program. After it is installed, you can access it by going to your Start Button, then on the menu that appears go to Programs, DoremiSoft, Free AVI to MP4 Converter, then finally select AVI to MP4 that you'll see in the final box that appears on that menu. The program will launch, and may display a small box which asks you if you want to see what's new with software updates or continue with the program. Just click Continue when you want to use it (if you upgrade to a newer version, the box might go away, but I'm content using the product that I know works even if it does nag me at startup). So when you click continue, the box will disappear and the main program will load for you.

From here, it's very easy to use and you won't have to configure anything at all. The preset output file is already set to MPEG-4 (MP4), and the input file is preset to being an AVI. So all you need to do is use the first "Browse" button to navigate to and select the AVI file you want the program to read, and then click the second "Browse" button to tell it where you want it to create the new MP4 output file. When you click the "Convert" button at the bottom of the main program box, it will begin to convert your AVI movie to an MP4 (don't worry, it won't change the original at all if you want to keep it). You'll see a progress bar that will show you how much is left for it to do. Once the file is complete, it will tell you with a message box, and that's all there is to it!

Now, you can go to where you output the MP4 file to and preview it. You should notice that the quality is mostly the same, but the file size is way smaller. You are now ready to upload it to youtube!

Youtube limits your videos to 10 minutes per clip. If your AVI video is longer than 10 minutes, use Windows Movie Maker first from Start, Programs to make shorter segments, then convert to MP4 to ensure they are small enough for youtube.
