What you will need to make your own windshield washer solution
10 cups of warm water
3 cups of rubbing alcohol
1 tablespoon of mild liquid dishwashing detergent
1 clean empty milk jug (1 gallon), or other clean gallon container with a cap
Mixing the ingredients
Take the clean empty gallon milk jug or container and pour the warm water in slowly. Add the rubbing alcohol and then the mild liquid dishwashing detergent. Make sure that the cap in secured tightly to prevent any leaking. Next you will mix the solution well by vigorously shaking the container with the cap firmly in place.
When the solution is mixed well, pour the solution into the windshield washer liquid reservoir under the hood of the car. Only pour as much solution that is needed, the rest can be saved for later.
Not just for the car
The remaining solution leftover can still be used for other chores around your home. You can use this homemade solution for the windows and mirrors in your home as well.
Just simply fill a clean empty spray bottle with the solution and get to work on all the windows and mirrors that need cleaning. You can also use the solution for shining up the glass on your microwave oven, or the glass on your stove-top oven door, along with other countless items around the house.
You will end up saving money because you won't ever have to buy window and glass cleaner again. You will already have some on hand to do all of your chores.
Extra cleaning tip
If you really want your windows, windshields, and mirrors to shine without streaks, try this quick and easy trick. After you have washed the area, take some crumpled up newspaper or the junk mail advertisement papers that you find in your mail (the non-gloss paper), and wipe down the area that you just washed. This will get rid of any residue or streaking that was left behind.
Use the simple recipe for your own windshield washer solution and try the techniques explained above and you won't have a dirty windshield, window, or mirror in your home again.
