East Central Community College in Union, MO

A Guide to Franklin County Missouri's Premiere Community College

Cassie Schmelz
Union, Missouri is the county seat of Franklin County and it's also home to East Central College. East Central is the county's only community college and is an excellent choice for local students who want to stay close to home. This guide covers pertinent information about East Central including courses offered, price and financial aid information, and its partner university.

East Central College is located at 1964 Prairie Dell Road, Union, MO. Although they currently have no dorms, there is an abundance of housing and eating establishments nearby. ECC also offers courses at off-campus sites like the Four Rivers Career Center in Washington, Rolla Tech Center in Rolla, and the Southwest Area Center in Sullivan.

A wide variety of courses and programs to accommodate almost anyone's interests can be found at East Central. They offer over 50 degrees in things like accounting, psychology, culinary arts, and nursing, as well one and two year certificates. If you're not sure what path you'd like to take, the Career Services Department at ECC can help you.

Compared to other community colleges, the price range for East Central is very reasonable. According to their website, tuition is kept low because the college gets support from residents through taxes and also gets assistance from the state and federal government. In district students pay only $61.00 per credit hour and they have not raised tuition since 2005.

If you need financial help, East Central does offer financial aid and scholarships. They have an excellent guide here on their website and also have an Office of Financial Aid to help you through the process.

If you are looking to get more than an associates degree, you can still do that at the East Central campus. They partner with Central Methodist University to offer four year and master programs. The Central Methodist classes are usually taught in the afternoon or evening making this a good option for students with day time commitments.

So, if you live in or near Franklin County Missouri and are looking for a quality education at a low cost, East Central College can offer this. For more information, visit their website at www.eastcentral.edu.
