Major cities in East Tennessee include Knoxville and Chattanooga also Morristown and the "Tri-Cities" made up of Johnson City, Kingsport, and Bristol.
Now if you are worried about higher education, there is absolutely no need to be. East Tennessee alone has numerous colleges and universities. The most popular is The University of Tennessee-Knoxville, home of the Tennessee Volunteers. If UT is not your choice you have East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, King College in Bristol, and Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate. Other colleges include Johnson Bible College, Milligan College, Maryville College, Lee University, Tennessee Wesleyan College, and Tusculum College.
As far as industries in East Tennessee, Tennessee Valley Authority is probably the best known other than Oak Ridge, where nuclear weapons were and are made. In Kingsport, Tennessee you will find the Eastman Chemical Company.
East Tennessee is the most populous and densely populated of the three Grand Divisions of Tennessee. The other two divisions are Middle and West Tennessee.
Now if you need fun and entertainment, you have got it in East Tennessee. From Dollywood to Rock City to The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, to the Tennessee Aquarium, it is all right here in this part of the state. But there is so much more fun to be had.
If those attractions do not interest you, try these. You can make a splash at Rafting in the Smokies/Family Adventure, set sail at the Tennessee Riverboat Company, take a step back in time at the Southeast Tennessee Civil War Trail, or find an arresting time at the Carbo's Smoky Mountain Police Museum.
Now if you are just coming for a visit, which most people find turns into a stay, you will need a place to call "home" while you are here. Copperhill Country Cabins, Cascades Mountain Cabins, and Conner Hill Motor Lodge are just three out of thousands of places to stay.
