Easter Basket Ideas for Kids

Sally Albright
Easter is just around the corner and it's time to think about what you will be stuffing into your child's or toddler's Easter basket. You may be tempted to fill it with chocolate bunny rabbits, jelly beans, and other Easter candy but you shouldn't. It's not very healthy and it's unlikely that your toddler will be able to finish the candy you give them. So what can you put into their Easter basket? Here are some ideas to help.

Creative Toddler Easter Basket

Creating an Easter basket full of creative arts and crafts supplies will help keep your toddler busy and help them use their imagination. You can find Easter themed pencils and erasers for your toddler's basket as well Crayola Color Wonder Markers, Fingerpaints, and pads of paper made specifically for the Color Wonder art supplies. There is also an Aquamat which requires no mess and will keep them busy. In fact there is even an Aquamat that is small and portable to take with you in the car.

Magnet Fun Easter Basket

Refrigerator magnets aren't just for decoration. They can also be a wonderful educational tool and can even be fun to play with. When selecting magnets for your toddler's Easter basket stay away from ones who's magnets can easily pop out of. Also you should supervise your toddler when playing with the magnets. If you think that your only option for magnets for their Easter basket are letters and numbers think again. Tomy makes a set of refrigerator magnet gears which spin and can be configured and reconfigured for hours of fun.

Dress Up Fun Easter Basket

My toddler is almost two and she has begun showing interest in "dressing up" which brings me to the next idea for an Easter basket. Dress up isn't just for girls either. Little boys can have fun dressing up as their favorite heroes such as firefighters and policemen. You can add some accessories into their Easter baskets such as magic wands and hats to add some extra fun. For boys you can use a plastic toy fire engine to hold their Easter treats. For girls you may try a toy purse for them to place their accessories into.

You don't have to skip out on the sweet treats entirely when it comes to filling their Easter basket. Just try to keep them to a minimum. You may consider adding animal crackers, fruit snacks, cheese crackers, and other such treats instead of the traditional Easter candy.
