Easter Candy Alternatives: Stuffed Animals, Socks, Hair Ties and More

Matt A. Maxx
Mr. E. Bunny is about to come hop-hop-hopping into your living room to leave your child a pile of hyperactive unhealthy cavities. From what I understand, if you want to put in a special-diet order with Mr. Bunny, this special request order must reach Mr. Bunny before the actual day of the event.

It is suggested that you give him a list of about 20 small items that he can use to replace candy with in your child's Easter basket. Then, you deliver this list to: Mr. E. Bunny (at) 12111 E. Bunnytrail Drive (in) Bunny World Acres, OSL (Outside Land).

If you are stuck for ideas to place on your Easter candy replacement list for Mr. Bunny, here is what my list looks like:

1. Hair Ties, Ribbons, Clips, or Bands

2. A few cheery fresh Strawberries and a curious looking fuzzy Kiwi

3. Loose Lego Bricks

4. Nuts and Dried Fruit, Granola Choices, and Pretzels

5. Special Granola Bars wrapped in fancy paper with ribbons.

6. A roll of pretty little dimes to dig out of the grass & lovingly spaced so that nothing is touching any food.

7. A fancy coloring book to fill up the back of the basket and a new box of crayons.

8. A few colorful balloons for the child to inflate at will.

9. One dog biscuit. (It would never do for Mr Bunny to miss the dog! He's a child too.)

10. Exotic pens, pencils, erasers, and classroom toys for show-and-tell day after Easter.

11. A small craft kit.

12. A tiny puzzle.

13. A tiny ball to bounce.

14. Dice or Marbles to play with.

15. Socks rolled so that bunny ears are sticking out of the top, with stickers for eyes.

16. A new wallet with a dollar bill in it.

17. A few pieces of jewelry or make-up.

18. A cross of some sort to keep the spirit of the day in mind; book marker, necklace, or maybe a stained glass item for the child's bedroom window.

19. A fluffy little stuffed animal, or one of those life-like stuffed chickens that chirps.

20. 25 chocolate covered raisins and a Hershey Bar. I'm not scrooge. The TV said that the bunny brought chocolate. How can I argue with the TV? Kids believe the TV. The raisins can be eaten instantly and the Hershey can be rationed out by squares over days.

OK, I know. I'm a wimp. There's chocolate on my E. Bunny list. I had to scratch off a lot of ideas before I came up with the right list that would work for my home.

Some of my other ideas included garden seeds to grow, a hand-held video game, gift certificates to our favorite movie theater, skating rink, and food places, an envelope with a special trip disclosed, a small disposable camera, a new game for the computer, and all of that partridge-in-a-pear-tree stuff that falls out of Christmas stockings.

OK people, I'm off to go find that bunny now to give him my alternative diet list. Good luck with your lists, and happy Easter!

P.S. Remember that the last day to shop for smalls online is a full 14 days prior to your desired delivery date. This allows for both mailing and processing times with your order.
