For this project, you will need:
- One egg shaped paper mache box (such as these found at Viking Wood Crafts)
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Ballet Slipper
- Pencil
- Self healing mat
- Craft knife
- Shrink paper
- Fancy letter alphabet stamps
- Light green colored ink pad
- Dimensional glue
- Flair Designs "Paradise Paisley" Print Scrapbook Paper (found in stores and online at Paper Addict)
- Mod Podge or other decoupage medium
- Paper towel
- Sponge brush
- 1/2 inch wide pink satin ribbon
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Newspaper
Cover your entire work area with newspaper. Remove the lid from the egg shaped paper mache box. Spray both the box and the lid, inside and out, with Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White. Let the primed box dry for two to three hours, until completely dry.
Spray the inside and the outside of the box and lid evenly with Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Ballet Slipper. Wait fifteen to twenty minutes, or until the paint is no longer tacky. Apply a second coat. Repeat this painting process until you have reached the desired color of pink on your box. Dry for one to two hours.
Lay the Flair Designs "Paradise Paisley" Print Scrapbook Paper flat on the self healing mat. Use the lid as a template, and outline its shape in pencil on the paper. With the craft knife, cut the lid shape out from the paper. Apply a bit of decoupage medium to the front of the box lid. Adhere the print paper to the paper mache lid. Smooth away any bubbles in the paper with your fingers, and wipe away any excess glue with a damp paper towel. Dry completely.
Use the fancy letter alphabet stamps to spell "Happy Easter" out in light green ink. Cut out the words and shrink according to manufacturer directions. Cool completely. Use a bit of dimensional glue to adhere the words to the box lid.
Cut a length of 1/2 inch wide pink satin ribbon to wrap around the center of the box lid and tuck underneath the inside of the lid. Adhere the ribbon to the lid with hot glue.
Allow all glues and paints to dry before filling with Easter goodies.
