Easter Craft Ideas: Eiffel Tower Print Eggs

Landra Lynn Jacobs
For the true faux French fan, these fun Eiffel tower print eggs are a perfect decoration idea! They can be placed in a bowl or small basket for viewing, and even look great all year.

For this project, you will need:

- 3 inch Styrofoam eggs (such as these found here at Save-On-Crafts)

- Acrylic spackling compound

- Paper cup

- Medium grit sandpaper

- Tack cloth or other soft cloth

- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Glossy Black

- "Eiffel Tower" Mounted Rubber Stamp (found online at Stampin.com)

- Black colored paper

- Watermark ink pad

- White glitter colored embossing powder

- Heat embossing tool

- Self healing mat

- Craft knife

- Ruler

- Mod Podge or other decoupage medium

- Sponge brush

- Paper towel

- Newspaper

Due to the use of spackles, inks, and embossing powders first place a thick layer of newspaper down on your work area. Cover each Styrofoam egg completely with a thick layer of acrylic spackling compound. Set the egg in the paper cup to dry completely overnight.

Gently sand the egg with medium grit sandpaper to smooth the "shell". Wipe away any dust from this process with a tack cloth or other soft cloth. Spray the egg completely with three to four coats of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Glossy Black. Allow the egg to dry several hours before continuing.

Lay a piece of black colored paper flat onto your self healing mat. Carefully press the "Eiffel Tower" Mounted Rubber Stamp into the watermark ink pad. Imprint the Eiffel Tower image onto the black paper. Immediately sprinkle the image with white glitter colored embossing powder. Shake off any excess onto the newspaper. Heat set with the heat embossing tool, and dry for fifteen to twenty minutes before continuing.

Using the ruler as a straight edge, create square of paper from the embossed image that will wrap around the mid-section of the egg and leave the glossy edges exposed. With the craft knife, cut this section out. With a sponge brush, apply a generous amount of Mod Podge or other decoupage medium to the paper. Adhere the paper to the egg, smoothing any bubbles in the paper and wiping away any excess glue with a damp paper towel.

Let the egg dry in the paper cup overnight before displaying your new creation!

TIP: For an added look, consider using red glitter embossing powder fur a chic Easter look!
