Easter Craft for Kids: Easter Egg Puzzle

This Easter Egg Puzzle Craft Project is a fun and fabulous way for kids to create custom puzzle for Easter.

The materials in making this Easter Egg are affordable and easy. Kids can really get creative with this fun Easter craft project.

Overall, you should be able to make this Easter Egg puzzle craft project for less than $4, but that depends on what materials you need to purchase.

To Make a Easter Egg puzzle craft Project You Will Need:

Foam Art Boards (You decide how many. You can substitute thick cardboard for this to

Save some money)

Puff paint

Glue (optional)

Construction paper (optional)

Exacto Knife

Scissors

To start this easy Easter Egg puzzle craft project you need to choose a piece of pastel foam core board you do not mind cutting up. You can buy foam core board at any arts and craft store as well as any art supply store. I even see it in the grocery store. A sheet of foam core board can cost about $1.50.

Next, decide how big you want to make your Easter Egg puzzle craft. You can make it as small as 2" X 3"in this case I would recommend using cardboard instead of foam board. You could also make this Easter Egg puzzle craft project as large as your whole piece of foam core board.

So, have the kids trace out an egg shape on their foam core board.

This will be the basic shape of the puzzle before you cut it into puzzle pieces.

Once the egg is cut out you need to have the kids decorate the foam core board. I find that puff paint works well on foam core board. They can also use cut out so construction paper and glue them down to the egg.

Let all the paint and glue dry thoroughly. If you are using puff paint I recommend letting it dry for at least 24 hours. You will need to be about to touch all of your artwork when you are cutting the puzzle pieces.

When you have finished decorating the Easter egg puzzle let the kids take a photo of it whole. This way they will have a guide for future use when putting the Easter puzzle together.

Now, for what I think is the fun part of this Easter Egg puzzle craft project. You need to make your Easter Egg pieces. Simply cut out your puzzle pieces, making sure they fit together and eventually cover the square footage you want.

Start on the top left, placing your first piece of the Easter Egg puzzle craft down. Use a pencil to trace out each piece of the puzzle on the back of the Easter egg. Add another piece and keep tracing. Continue this until all of your Easter Egg is traced out into puzzle pieces.

Now, cut out your foam core board puzzle pieces. I recommend using an exacto knife. Parents may need to help smaller kids with this step. You can use scissors, but they would work better on cardboard.

Tip: Do not use decoupage to adherer your construction paper to the Easter Egg puzzle pieces. As it dries it will bend the foam board as it dries.

Recycle and old shoebox or small packing box to hold the puzzle pieces. You can take the photo you took earlier glue it on top of the box to always have a picture of the finished Easter Egg puzzle to look at. This will certainly help the kids when putting this Easter Egg puzzle together,
