Easter Crafts: How to Make a Decoupage Easter Egg

BS
Easter egg decorating is part of what makes Easter such a fun holiday. Decorating Easter eggs can be done in so many different ways, it's hard to say how many there actually are. If you can think of it, chances are, you can put it on your Easter egg. Some people are extremely creative when it comes to decorating Easter eggs, but not everyone can have that much imagination. Even those with all that creativity have trouble picking one egg decorating technique because there are so many options. Fortunately for those who are a little lacking in the creativity department or are just coming up blank on ideas, suggestions are not hard to find. A decoupage egg is a great way to decorate an Easter egg, and doing this gives you many options for the overall look of the Easter egg. Whatever way you choose to decorate it, here are the basic instructions for making a decoupage Easter egg:

Materials
-hallow eggs (plastic eggs work as well)
-magazines
-scissors
-clear glue or mod podge

Instructions
1. The first step to creating your decoupage Easter egg is deciding what style you want to use. The best images to use for this craft are from magazines because they are thinner than regular images. You can go with the traditional Easter themes, such as chicks, bunnies, and so on, or you can do something completely different. This part is completely up to you.

2. When you're flipping through the magazines, cut out the images that you like. Be sure to take the size of the images into consideration. It is best to use small images, as most Easter eggs are small, although there are some larger plastic ones available.

3. Once all your images are cut out, figure out a layout. You can play with the images and decide what you like best. Once you've decided, take your paintbrush and dip it in the glue or mod podge. Apply the glue to the egg, a little bigger than your image.

4. Take the image and place it over the glue. Don't wait too long or the glue will dry and your image won't stick. Once the image is on your Easter egg, put another layer of glue or mod podge over it.

5. Repeat step 3 and 4 with the rest of your images.

6. Once all your images are on your Easter egg and you are satisfied with the look, set it aside and let it dry. If you want to do more decoupage Easter eggs, you can do this while your first egg is drying.

These decoupage Easter eggs are great for Easter egg hunts, but they are most commonly used as decorations. If you are careful with them, you can use these decoupage Easter eggs for years because they stay beautiful for years, as long as they are not broken.
