Easter egg decorating is always a fun part of Easter preparations. The great thing about decorating Easter eggs is that they can be used as gifts, for Easter egg huntsand as treats for the children. Easter egg decorating is a great family craft and there are Easter egg decorating techniques for all age groups. The sponge technique for decorating Easter eggs is very easy and fun for both girls and boys, no matter how old.

Materials
-hollow eggs
-sponges
-acrylic paint
-newspaper
-water

Instructions
1. Since this Easter egg decorating craft involves paint, lay down some newspaper over your work area. If you aprons or smocks, it won't hurt to put them on.

2. Before you actually start decorating your Easter egg, you will need to lay out your materials. Get a plate and pour some of the paint on it. Depending on how many colors you have, you may need more than one plate. Just make sure that the paint doesn't run together, unless you're trying to mix it to make another color. Also, get a bowl of water.

3. Once all your materials are out there and easily accessible, you can get started on your Easter egg. Dip the sponge in the bowl of water and ring out any access water. Then, dip the sponge into the color you want to use.

4. Hold up your egg, and lightly dab the sponge on your Easter egg. If you are doing this with children, make sure you stress the "lightly" part. Dab the sponge all over your egg until the entire surface. Because you are using the sponge and it was already wet, it should mix with the paint to create a cool pattern on the egg. Don't try to make the whole egg look uniform, that defeats the purpose.

5. Put your egg aside and let it dry. You can move leave the Easter egg as is if you are satisfied with it. If you are looking for a more colorful look, you can repeat steps 3 and 4 on the same egg using a different color (just be sure the egg is completely dry).

As mentioned before, these spongy Easter eggs are very easy to make with the entire family. They are not time consuming at all so you can make as many as you want without dedicating the entire day to Easter egg decorations.
