Easter Crafts: How to Make Stenciled Easter Eggs

BS
Decorating the Easter eggs is one of the most common traditions practiced by families who celebrate Easter. Easter egg decorating is fun craft that can involve the entire family. You can buy Easter eggs that are already decorated at the store, but what fun is that? Decorating your own Easter eggs is not only a favorite family craft, but it also gives children a sense of pride when their decorations are put on display or used in the Easter egg hunts. A very easy way to decorate Easter eggs is to use stickers and food coloring. It's simple, and even the youngest children can enjoy this Easter craft. Here's how you do it:

Materials
-stickers
-food coloring or egg dye
-hallow eggs
-bowls
-newspaper

Instructions
1. In terms of messy, this is one of the cleanest ways to decorate your Easter eggs, another reason why it's great for everyone in the entire family. Even though it is not a messy craft, you should put some newspaper down on your work area just to prevent any food coloring from staining your table.

2. After you've got your area covered, get out your Easter eggs! Put your stickers on. The stickers don't have many requirements in order for this project to work. You can choose to apply many small stickers to your Easter egg. You can also choose to do one or two large stickers on the egg. You can pick any shape of sticks, bunnies, chicks, they don't even have to be Easter related, but that's what most people choose.

3. Once you've got all the stickers on your Easter egg, get a bowl for whatever you will be using to dye your Easter egg. Make sure the bowl isn't too deep, you wouldn't want to drop your egg and break it in the process.

4. Take your Easter egg(s) and dip it in the bowl of dye or food coloring. Make sure that the entire surface of the egg gets dyed.

5. Take your Easter egg out and put it on the newspaper. Let it dry.

6. When your Easter egg is dry, remove the stickers. Once you do this, only the outline of the sticker will remain creating a stenciled look on your Easter egg.

7. This step is optional. If you don't like the look of your Easter egg because all you can see is the outline of the shape of your sticker, you can use a paintbrush and acrylic paint to fill in the outline. You can just fill it in, or you can paint some details on the egg (of course, this is easier with larger stickers).

You gotta love stencils. If you are careful you can use small rubber stamps too.

I would outline the stencil with glitter, and add eyes and noses and such. Will send to daughter for kids!
