Easter Crafts: How to Make Striped Easter Eggs

BS
Easter is right around the corner, which means that everyone is busy making preparations or should get started. Family get togethers, activities, meals, and of course, decorations are part of Easter for most people. Decorations can be a very fun part of Easter preparations, you can get the entire family involved. Easter eggs are always a great way to decorate your house for Easter, and they can also be used for a family activity: an Easter egg hunt. After you blow out the Easter eggs, the decorating options are endless. With lots of different cool effects, it can be hard to just choose one, but you don't have to. For decorating some of your Easter eggs this year, try using rubber bands!

Materials
-eggs
-egg dye or food coloring
-rubber bands
-paper towels
-newspaper
-bowl

Instructions
1. Lay down some newspaper over your work area. You won't need too much as this is not a very messy project. This is just to make sure that you prevent stains o your table, or anything like that. You probably won't need an apron, but if you want to wear one then do so.

2. Take the rubber bands (make sure that you have lots of different widths) and wrap them around the Easter egg. Be sure that the rubber bands aren't too tight, you wouldn't want the Easter egg to burst. If a rubber band is too big, wrap it around more than once, but again, not too tight. Have the rubber bands going in all different directions. Cover the entire Easter egg with the rubber bands.

3. Once your Easter egg is wrapped, pour some food coloring or egg dye into a bowl. Dip your Easter egg in the dye or food coloring and let it sit until you are satisfied with the shade of the color.

4. Take the Easter egg out of the dye or coloring. Let it sit for a while before you remove the rubber bands so that the dye has time to dry.

5. Remove the rubber bands from the Easter eggs one by one. As you remove the rubber bands you will see your Easter egg has a lot of colorful stripes going in every direction. They should be all different shades, which is what makes this Easter egg looks so cool.

6. This step is optional. If you want to, you can repeat this process with the same Easter egg, except with a different dye color. No matter how many Easter eggs you do this with, there won't be a single one that looks the same as another. You can use these Easter eggs as holiday decorations, as presents for your relatives, or for an Easter egg hunt (or another fun Easter activity).
