Here are some ideas for making crafts for Easter that include where to get supplies, how to make crafts and some ideas on what kinds of games to play with your children after the craftmaking is done.
Supplies:
Michael's is an "everything" craft store and the most popular. It has holiday items all year round. It has items from lace, to patterns, to buttons, to craftmaking books. You can go to their website www.michaels.com and find some in your area or order from them there.
The 99 cent store is a place where you find pretty much everything for a cheap price. Although it doesn't have specific crafts that you might be looking for, it does have a lot of items you can make things with.
Staples is mainly an office supply store but you can go there for colored paper, glue, paper clips, tape, and of course, staples. You can also search for items in your area on staples.com.
Crafts:
Eggs - They are the quintessential symbol for Easter. And there are dozens of varieties of Easter eggs that people can make and enjoy.
Paper egg decorations.
What you need: Colored paper, scissors, glue, staples, crayons or colored pencils, 40 ft. cotton ball of yarn.
Where to buy: Staples, Michael's
What to do:
1) Take the college sheet length paper and fold it in half. Fold that in half again. Then cut out oval shapes. You can make as many oval shapes as you want. These will be your eggs.
2) Take a different colored paper and draw circles, lines and all types of different shapes on the paper with different colors. Again fold the paper, but this time fold it in half three times. You might need to draw circles on the paper this time because you will cut out a small circle in the middle of the paper. Then you will have 6 circles.
3) Take some glue and stick the circles onto the ovals and you have decorated Easter eggs.
4) Take the cotton stings and cut the yarn into 2 feet lengths. Glue the string to the top of the eggs and let it dry.
4) There are a few ways to use these decorations. A. Put the decorated Easter eggs carefully on your countertops like confetti. You can place the strings under items on the countertops if you will. B. Put the eggs on your refrigerator with yours and your children's name on the ones they made. C. Hand the eggs from the ceiling. D. Decorate your bedroom doors with the eggs. Put the eggs in a basket and place in on the coffee table.
Holiday Easter egg cards.
What you need: Colored paper, a pen, glue, scissors, stencils (optional)
Where to buy: Staples, 99 Cent Store
What to do:
1) Take a piece of colored paper. Fold it in half. Then in half again. And you have your card.
2) Now take more colored paper and fold it in half twice. Cut oval shapes out of it to make eggs. Draw some squiggly lines on the paper to decorate the eggs. Glue an egg to the middle of the card.
3) Use your imagination. Write something funny about Easter and then write inside the card. You can staple the loose ends of the card together if you'd like to.
The most important thing is to spend time with your children.
Easter Egg Baskets.
What you need: Thin cardboard, scissors, staples, random decorations
Where to buy: Staples, Michael's (optional)
What to do:
1) Take the cardboard and cut into eight equal squares.
2) Fold the bottom of one square over one inch. Take the rest of the squares and place them on top of the bottom square. Staple the bottom to the sides.
3) Decorate the sides by gluing any kinds of delightful things you might think of.
4) Take a final square and cut into strips that will reach both sides of the box you have made. Staple the strip to two opposite side of the box for a strap and you have an Easter basket.
The most important thing is spending time with your children so with these ideas, you can have fun before the Easter egg hunt.
