Easter Crafts: How to Make Tie-Dye Easter Eggs

Easter eggs are a big part of the holiday tradition. They are often used in Easter egg hunts. The Easter egg hunts are fun for the children, and even for the adults, but preparing for the Easter egg hunt is just as fun. Decorating Easter eggs is something all children look forward to when Easter comes around. There are so many different options for decorating Easter eggs, so you don't have to do the same thing every year. Tie-dye has always been a cool pattern, especially for children, so why not make tie-dye Easter eggs? This project is fun and easy (great Easter project for children), and very inexpensive.

Materials
-eggs (make sure they are hallow)
-paper towels
-plastic wrap
-food coloring
-water
-vinegar

Instructions
1. Before you even start making your tie-dye Easter eggs, make sure that you are wearing old clothes, or an apron so that you don't stain your clothes. You may also want to lay down some newspaper so that the food coloring or the paint doesn't stain your furniture.

2. Rip out a sheet of plastic wrap, a little longer and wider than your paper towel sheets.

3. Rip out a sheet of paper towels, and place that on top of the plastic wrap.

4. Now, take the water and vinegar and use them to dampen your paper towel. A good way to do this is to use a dropper, or lightly sprinkle the water and vinegar over the paper towel. Make sure that you do not soak the paper towel, but also be sure that almost every part of the paper towel is damp.

5. You will need to use food coloring to make the tie-dye Easter eggs. With a lot of Easter eggs decorations, you can substitute the food coloring for paint, but it won't work with the tie-dye Easter eggs. While the paper towel is still damp, drop some food coloring on the paper towel. The food coloring should bleed. Do this with all the different colors you want to use on your tie-dye Easter egg. You don't have to cover the entire paper towel, just be sure that there is enough to cover the entire surface of the egg.

6. Once you're satisfied with the colors on your paper towel, place your Easter egg in the center of the paper towel. Wrap the plastic wrap around the egg to allow the food coloring to soak into your Easter egg. Leave it on as long as you like, but the longer you leave it on, the brighter the colors will appear.

7. When you're ready to peel off the plastic wrap, do so. Then you can either leave your tie-dye Easter egg the way it is, or you can do another layer. Do this with all your Easter eggs and you'll have enough for a basket full of tie-dye Easter eggs.
